The End of the World Meme

IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD

The Rapture has occurred, and those select few who have been saved have already ascended. You now remain abandoned, awaiting the the inevitable destruction of the rest of the world. Will it end in fire, or will it end in ice--or perhaps an inexplicable zombie infestation? Who knows, anything is possible, the only thing that is certain is that you only have so much time left.

What will you do?

-----------------------

An open meme! Anyone can join, and feel free to set up your own scenarios on just how the apocalypse comes, or when during it your characters are to be found.

Ryudo Issei | Fate/stay night

[identity profile] stripping.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Praying, Issei sits on the shade of his temple. Although, really, everything is shade now. The dust caused by that asteroid - it has a name, but he just refers to it as 'that asteroid' because what else could he be talking about - blocked out the sun for a long time, and even if there's enough sun to see, now, it doesn't change the fact that no plants would grow, animals died, and almost everyone breathed in enough dust that their bodies aren't in good shape.

He coughs, disrupting his prayers. He coughs a lot, now.]

[When rumors began to spread about the end of the world coming, Nepeta couldn't help bite back an exasperated sigh. Worlds seemed to no like surviving for some unknown reason. Still, as the tell-tale signs began to appear she realized something.

Actually being on the planet when it ended would make things...significantly different. As in, significantly suckier.

Said suckiness grew when it became apparent that the recent rainstorms weren't going to let up anytime soon. As much as she hated rain, however, and though she could not swim she had attempted to leave her home with a single direction in mind: Equius' hive. She needed to get to him, to know if he was still around, to make sure he was okay but it didn't take long before the waters began to rise and she had to escape to the roof of an abandoned hive along the way.

She shivered and drew her coat nearer, looking down from the roof to see signs of any other person, or something that she might be able to use as a boat to continue her journey. It probably wouldn't be long before not even this place was safe.]

[identity profile] stronghighfive.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Soon, Nepeta would be able to see someone moving in the water. It was past the point where anyone could walk, so the troll was swimming more efficiently than most.

Some trolls, after all, were STRONG swimmers.

Despite that, Equius had to take a break every now and then - swimming was not really his area of expertise. Fortuitously, he chose the roof that Nepeta was standing on even without seeing her clearly. He climbed on, taking a few deep breaths before looking over and noticing her for the first time.]

Nepeta!

[personal profile] moirailcompass 2011-05-21 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[The wave of relief that fell over her when she saw Equius was indescribable. He was okay. Without a moments hesitation she ran over to him and threw herself at him in a big hug.]

Equius!! I was so worried!

Ted "Theodore" Logan | Bill and Ted

[identity profile] tedderendingly.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ted knew that the world couldn't possibly end here, now. How could it, when he'd seen the future? He'd seen the past, and the future, and all in between. Of course, Bill was right that there was no time like the present and all, but Ted had to confess that it wasn't so peachy on earth right now.

Maybe that's why they were going to play that gig on Mars. But Wyld Stallyn's music was intent to bring about peace and ends to famine...after all, it had been proven that air guitars significantly decreased the amount of pollution in the air. And since Death was an on again off again member of the band, he thought he'd get a heads up to when the end of times was coming.

Plus, God had totally been awesome. How else could they have beat the evil robot thems without the help of Station? Clearly, Ted would have caught the signs and hintings at the end of the world in the crowd he ran in.

Though the preachings didn't bother Ted, who was sitting in the shaking subway as it shot through the underground, lit with neon green and subdued blues. But no, if the world was ending and there was no way out of, he'd end it playing his guitar, end it tossing it over his shoulder, up to the condo he and Elizabeth and Little Bill had taken for his most recent trip to New York City, for their little vacay in the big city.

Though the people in the next end of the car preaching deliverance in a language he didn't know weren't exactly cool with him. People had simply disappeared after what sounded like an army of trumpeters in the sky, but things seemed to run the same. He'd just pluck away at his guitar as the very empty train sped through the dark underground. He'd get off in three stops, and then he'd be with his wife and son, and all would be well.]

[identity profile] stronghighfive.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[Equius was long past the point of complaining about Nepeta hugs. He wasn't used to dangerous things that his strength couldn't fix, and this qualified.]

I'm glad to see you safe, as well. [He didn't mention how temporary this safety seemed. He wasn't afraid. Not in front of her, because that would only make her afraid, and he couldn't have that.]
moirailcompass: (Someone as dumb as this?)

[personal profile] moirailcompass 2011-05-21 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[Now that Equius is here, Nepeta is significantly calmer!]

I was just going to your hive but then the water started to get too high. [Rather problematic for someone as small as Nepeta. Not to mention ew water]

Do you know if our other furriends are okay? My tablet fell in the water and I haven't been able to get in contact with anyone.

[identity profile] stronghighfive.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Eridan trolled me this morning assuring me that he and the future empress were perfectly fine and would remain so. He was absolutely snide about it, in fact. [Well, at least some of the highbloods were all right. But.]

...The other land-dwellers are having the same problems that we are facing.
moirailcompass: (We should have each other to tea huh?)

[personal profile] moirailcompass 2011-05-21 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[That was right. Eridan and Feferi would be perfectly fine through all this, wouldn't they? Well that meant two less people to worry about, but she still couldn't help but wonder how the others were doing.

But then again, maybe she should focus on herself and Equius. She finally let go of him and looked out at their surroundings]

...what do you think we should do?

[identity profile] stronghighfive.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
The creation of a boat would be the wisest course of action. [He could swim, but not while carrying her, and he required breaks on land, which rapidly seemed to be disappearing.] We may also need to gather food.

[How long was it going to rain? How long until they could return to their homes and live normal lives again?]

Mimmi Horowitz | Original Character

[identity profile] dasfraulein.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[According to the news, about a third of the population up and disappeared one day. At least, that's what it said before television stopped working. At this point, almost everything had stopped working. Electricity crapped out a long time ago. Anything that needed to be plugged into the wall was now useless. Batteries still worked but only until they ran out of juice. Miraculously radio still existed if you could find a portable one that wasn't broken beyond repair.

Without fuel, cars and planes and busses stopped working. The mail couldn't get through. Supplies vanished quickly.

And Mimmi Horowitz was in a completely different country than her family. She was in America, they were in Germany. She had no way to contact them, but she had gotten over that already. Right now she was looking for whatever supplies she could get her hands on to bring back to her little troupe off in a building somewhere. They were running low on food already.

Hhe hoped she was lucky enough to find something.]

[personal profile] moirailcompass 2011-05-21 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[Food. She probably should have taken some of hers when she left her hive, but she hadn't been thinking straight. Equius was right though--a boat took priority, without it it wouldn't matter if they had food or not

That would be easier said than done]

Purrhaps there are some tools in this hive? Or something else we can use? [Most of it was underwater by now, but at the very least they wouldn't need to worry about the current as much.]

[identity profile] stronghighfive.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
That seems the best place to start. I will search it, and you can stay here. [Nepeta was not the best swimmer, and holding one's breath was a matter of strength. Equius could do it alone, without endangering her. He hoped.]
moirailcompass: (you weren't born)

[personal profile] moirailcompass 2011-05-21 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[The idea of him going under there alone was not one Nepeta liked very much, but her pride was not so great to make her think she'd be anything other than a burden if she tried to follow. She was a terrible swimmer, if she could be called one at all, so after a moments hesitation she can a reluctant nod.]

O-ok but you better come back, okay?

[identity profile] stronghighfive.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course I will.

[With that - just go in, find something useful, and get out, don't worry Nepeta more than he has to - he took a deep breath and dove into the water.

There wasn't a lot in the hive that the water hadn't washed away, but some things wouldn't move without his strength. Soon enough, he came back carrying - a bathtub.]
This won't float, will it.

[It was only a few weeks after the end of the conflict against Kresoveer, and now something else was rearing its ugly head.

With a snarl, the brunette spun the tachi that her sensei had given her a few years back, driving the blade of the sword into something that used to resemble being human. The virus had spread quickly, and it was only through sheer luck and the fact that the Alliance hadn't been on-world at the time that prevented them from contracting the disease that had decimated a good portion of the population.

Instead of a hero's welcome like they were all expecting after the fact, everything seemed to have fallen into chaos. At first, they thought that was just an aftereffect of what they had done, but some investigation into the matter proved otherwise.]

'ch. Not good.

[She frowned, wiping her blade clean before sheathing it. There had to be someone out here that wasn't infected - why else would they get a distress signal?]
dungenessmaster: (Karkat with sickle)

Karkat Vantas | Homestuck | action or prose is cool with me, switch if you'd like.

[personal profile] dungenessmaster 2011-05-21 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
End of the world? Fuck the end of the world; Karkat had already seen it. Twice, in fact -- Alternia and then Earth. He'd watched the meteors impact, the civilizations crumble, the planets eventually fall into an uninhabitable mess. It got kind of boring after awhile.

The big difference was that this time, Karkat was trapped in the world being destroyed. There was no deus ex machina game dimension to get him out of this one, no safe lab with glass screens to gaze out of. One disaster after another had struck, earth and water and sky causing upheaval after upheaval, countless lives had already been lost and more would follow. Wild rumors tore through the groups of terrified survivors, whispers of plague, of walking dead, of unholy monsters, all the awesome shit that happened when the end was actually completely fucking nigh.

Karkat had no idea if his friends were even here. Trollian was dead, all 15 other screen names showed up as offline. No matter. He would keep moving, keep looking for those idiot trolls and worthless human children.

And if anyone else crossed his path, whatever. Humans had a funny saying about safety in numbers he could appreciate, even if he didn't fully agree with it.

Tch. You think we'd be used to this crap by now, right?

Gamzee watched the coming of the end with something akin to a wistful smile on his face, covering more sinister thoughts. He spun a club around in his fingers, leaving the fancier weapons tucked away in his deck for now.

He remained, and those that remained with him were his. Theirs. For they were the Mirthful Messiahs, and this was the coming of their dark carnival. The ringmasters, the show stoppers. Blood would spill and pave a colorful path for his tents to be raised on.

A familiar presence drew his - their - attention, and he approached Karkat with the least friendly of smiles. Some matters were best settled first.

"Hey there, best friend."

Nope. Right now it's just us, from what I've seen. No one's on Trollian either, so they're probably dead.

Just a matter of time for us too, the way it's going! I gotta say, it's more fun seeing a universe die out from the outside than actually going down with it.
dungenessmaster: (what the hell was that)

oh fuck dude your icon is my desktop wallpaper right now

[personal profile] dungenessmaster 2011-05-21 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Karkat heard the indigo troll before he saw him and stopped dead in his tracks, so abruptly he nearly tripped. Shit. Shit. One good thing about this world, he hadn't been seconds away from getting murdered in cold blood by someone he once trusted. So much for that.

He took a step back, then another, and glanced behind him. Mostly open streets with the occasional smoldering pileup of ugly human transportation vehicles. He could run, probably.

"Hey... uh, Gamzee. Still alive, huh. B... best friend?"

Man, that hadn't even sounded slightly believable. Maybe he'd luck out and Gamzee would trip before he split his skull open and drank what was inside, or whatever the fuck people did when they went shithive and started believing they were two clown gods.
dungenessmaster: (yeah well maybe)

[personal profile] dungenessmaster 2011-05-21 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
You're not on Trollian either, idiot!

[it's a weak retort, but hope springs eternal. maybe someone else survived. He'd give his left horn for Sollux or Terezi right about now. shit, even that idiot human with the glasses and bad teeth.]

Maybe there's still a way out of here. I mean, assuming that shit about the walking dead isn't true. Who the fuck do they think we are, Kanaya?
moirailcompass: (Everybody digs a swingin' cat.)

[personal profile] moirailcompass 2011-05-21 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Nepeta wished she had taken all the talk of the end of the world a little more seriously. She figured she had survived it once, so it really couldn't be all that hard to do so a second time, right?

Well she was still alive, and for that she was happy, but the fact that she was unable to contact her moirail or any of her other friends was not so nice. She had nearly gone the same way as her late lusus. In retrospect, maybe she should have learned something about living in a cave from that first time. She was sure both her tablet and tail, now reduced to nothing more than a poor bandaged nub when she had been forced to cut it off, would have been very grateful.

Now wasn't the time to think about that though, she had to check on the others and it was as she was leaping through some debris on her way taht she spotted Karkat. She skid to a stop, turned direction and headed his way.

"Karkitty!"
