I'm fuh--- [ how are you not freaking out is what he attempts to vocalize, but it doesn't really come out. suga gets cut off as he gets hooked in closer, cheek mushed up against daichi's chest like it had been while he was asleep, and suga literally feels his entire face flood with color as daichi looks at him because, oh, no. that was basically a confession, right? he's not crazy! they were acting like a married couple yesterday, dumb mom and dad jokes from their classmates aside! suga called him babe, and while, yes, daichi is absolutely a babe and should therefore be called one, the person who should call him that is probably not suga! does he even like suga? does he even like guys? and, yes, okay, suga's freaking out a little.
but daichi isn't, which is why suga ends up panicking and punching him in the gut. it's not hard, but it's one of his tough love mechanisms that seems to make an appearance when he's a little freaked out (or when his teammates need a loving push back to reality.) ] Why aren't you?!
[ rip sugawara koushi being cuddled to death by the guy he's liked for six years. six years!!! that is a completely valid reason to freak the hell out over accidentally confessing your feelings to someone! ]
I am definitely freaking out. [ Daichi he would probably believe that if you were showing visible signs of it. But he just lays there staring at him for a moment as he processes it, blush scrawled across his cheeks faintly as he considers the situation they've found themselves in. It wasn't a direct confession on either of their parts, but all the same, it was something. Something big. And he's pretty sure he doesn't want to turn around from that.
But he kissed Suga last night - not on the mouth, Jesus, but he could have - and held him as they slept, and they've been this way for six years. He can't imagine being any different than he is now. He wants to wake up to Suga for another six years, and another after that.
And that warm feeling gushes out of him, making him smile a little crookedly at him. It's hesitant around the edges, but Daichi just settles his palm into the dip of Suga's lower back. ]
But, I mean. It's... not bad? [ C'mon, Sawamura, you're better at words than this. God, he shouldn't be doing emotions when he's woken up from about three hours of sleep. ] It's definitely not bad. Unless you really want to get out of this bed for a reason that isn't class.
Oh my god. [ daichi, you are too bold. suga turns pinker if he possibly could, lifting his hands to put his face in them for a second to try and compose himself. it's kind of annoying that daichi's the cool one about this because suga is pretty much always the composed one and he is losing his mind a tiny bit. dropping his head into daichi's chest again, suga shakes his head, if only because he can't stop a grin from starting to spread across his face. it's not bad, he says. suga thinks it's the opposite of bad--he's liked daichi for so long it almost feels like he's dreaming this right now. ]
I called you babe. [ he mumbles into his hands, accompanied with a giggle that could only come from being a little delirious on a lack of sleep, and suga finally lifts his head again and peeks out from between his fingers as daichi's hand slides down to rest on his lower back, just in time to see that crooked smile. it does a lot of things to his heart, makes the butterflies in his stomach flutter crazily, and suga finally drops his hand to make one into a fist and lightly tap at daichi's chest with it, a fake punch.
(as he moves a little closer with the hand.) ] This is kind of a big deal, you do know that, right? I'm not crazy.
Yeah, you kinda did that. [ As if Daichi's heart doesn't flutter stupidly in his chest just thinking about it. Babe. It's just one word, a simple petname, but it's so much at the same time. And while most people call him by his first name, not a lot of people call Suga by his. It kind of means something to be doing that, it means more to... keep doing that.
So he takes a breath, cocking his head a little into his pillow as he watches Suga filter through the stages of freaking out. It's sort of interesting to be on this side of a freakout, the composed one, because he's kind of feeling it right now. Of course, that won't last long - and he exhales on that thought, smile still intact. ]
You're not crazy though, Koushi. [ That feels nice to say. And it makes him want to kiss him, a little, and he doesn't quite know why that is. But it's not a completely errant thought, considering he's been in love with him for years. (Something Michimiya pretty much said to him when they'd been sort of seeing each other, and something that he's been thinking about for a little while now.) ]
So - [ As Suga comes closer, he noses at his forehead, briefly, in response to the fake punch. ] We gotta figure out what it means.
Stop calling me that, oh my god. [ suga's just going to melt and die of embarrassment RIP suga. no one calls him by his first name and gives him all kinds of ridiculous butterflies and makes it really, really hard for him to continue thinking anything that isn't dumb and sappy and i really want to kiss you right now, daichi, lets forget about class. it's hard to think he might be allowed to think that now, and he scrubs at his face for a second, responding to the nose against his forehead to tip his head up and look at him.
daichi is close. he's stupidly handsome like this, even if he's tired and probably has morning breath, and neither of them have slept, and this whole situation is absurdly embarrassing and ridiculous and probably wouldn't have happened if it wasn't like that, and he puffs a little bit of a sigh, staring up at him. ] Right now, it just means that I need to get more sleep.
But... [ he pauses, raising his eyebrows, and bites the inside of his cheek to keep from smiling. the butterflies and the nerves are going to drive him crazy in a second here, and suga needs to keep his calm and refreshing face on for as long as possible. ] ...if you want it to mean something else, I do too.
[ and have. for a long time. since you dated michimiya. before that. ]
Koushi? [ Daichi can't help the way his smile turns into a grin, to be honest, because he's a jerk like that. But Suga is adorable when he gets flustered, and usually he's the one that's embarrassing, not the other way around. So he's going to bask in it while he can, and provoke it even further at every possible opportunity. Or, at least, until Suga gets used to being called that.
But he stops for a moment when he realizes how close they are, and raises his eyebrows just a little. He could just lean in and kiss him right now, though they probably need to brush their teeth and they're both baggy eyed. But Suga looks perfect, sleep ruffled, wearing one of his oversized shirts - although, not so oversized on Daichi as it is on him - and he's pretty much gorgeous.
A soft laugh escapes him at the mention of how little sleep they've both gotten, and he brings his hand up so he can thumb at the mole underneath his eye, effectively cradling his face in one big palm. ]
Yeah, me too. [ He rests their foreheads together. ] Think I'd like that a lot.
[ suga gives him a look that's a little bit of a pout and slaps at his chest when he says his name anyway. don't you give him that, daichi sawamura, don't think for a second you are immune to his Stern Mom Gaze. but. but, feelings are mostly more important than his best friend of seven years being a punk, and suga's look fades as a hand comes up to cradle his cheek. out of instinct, suga leans over and presses his cheek into his palm, nuzzling a little as he presses his forehead to his, too.
this is really happening--suga's not dreaming it at all. he's pictured this moment a hundred times, but in the end, his friendship with daichi was worth so much more than the chance to kiss him; he never wanted to make things strange between them. he could have made this happen years ago, but he never did. it's almost funny. but, it's hard to focus on that as he reaches up to return the favor, slender fingers finding daichi's face and holding it in place as he pulls back a little to talk to him. ] Seriously? You can't just decide you like someone, you know.
[ but, his overthinking and questioning is fading a little, because the smile on his face ends up breaking a little bigger than he wanted it to, and from where he's staring, it's so, so easy to duck forward and kiss him on the mouth. ]
[ A laugh bursts out of him at the pout, and the slap, but Daichi is somewhat cowed with the patented Stern Mom Gaze. Not as much as he would be in any other situation, but still enough to sober for a moment. Because for as fun as it is for him to tease Suga, he knows this is a serious event for them, and he wants to make it know that he absolutely means this. It's a little hard to focus with how close Suga is, but he's managed it for seven years of their friendship, so.
He can manage it now, as he turns his own cheek into that pretty hand of his. Their touches have been friendly, casual, for so long now, but there's always been something more to it. This is that something more, finally on the surface, finally allowed to happen. ]
I didn't just decide it. It's always been a thing, I just - you're my best friend, the most important person to me. It's not too much of a jump to do this.
[ And he never shuts up about you, but whatever. Daichi just smiles back at him, tipping forward into the kiss and holding him there gently rather than pulling away. ]
Daichi! [ suga doesn't whine, but he definitely mushes daichi's cheeks between his fingers where he's holding them, tugging a little. ] You can't just arbitrarily decide to take a step up from friendship so casually!!
[ actually he can, and it is just going to turn suga into a blushing schoolgirl at this rate. luckily, he doesn't get much time to dwell on it, because then his mouth is very much occupied, and in a way suga had only dreamt about up until this point. his eyelids droop and his thumb ends up tracking across daichi's cheek as he closes his eyes and just. exhales. the dumb nerves and sheer terror that this morning had originally consisted of are replaced in a matter of seconds with this giddy feeling of delight that starts up in his stomach and spreads to his fingertips, until he has to break the kiss because he laughs, a little giggle of a thing, high on joy and disbelief all at once.
he just kissed daichi. they got to kiss. daichi likes him (probably.) as he ducks his head, he keeps his hand there for a second before tipping forward to bump his nose into his, gently, just once. ] You're my most important person too, you know. You always have been.
Can't I though? [ Daichi laughs as he teases, scrunching his face up when he starts mushing and tugging at his cheeks. He pinches a little with thumb and forefinger at Suga's own cheek, but then goes right back to running his thumb in gentle strokes over that stupid beauty mark under his eye.
But then he gets lost in kissing him, this easy press and brush of lips that he probably shouldn't get so easily lost in, but does. It's their first kiss, though, and he's been kind of wanting to do it for a long time. Part of him probably wanted to when he was dating Michimiya, but he can't say for sure, because he just knew the basics before she pointed out how smitten he was with Suga. Just that they were friends, the closest that one could be to their best friend.
Now, though, a smile stretches across his face, nearly splits it in two. It's his answer to the laughter, and he stays right there as Suga ducks down. It lets him look pretty stupidly at him while he waits for him to pop back up again, and as soon as he does he's nuzzling noses with him. ] So it really isn't that big of a jump, you know? Pretty sure we can do it.
[ jeez, daichi is going to give suga a heart attack one of these days. making such bold decisions like that out of the blue is entirely too much. suga's still not sure what any of this means, but his thumb on his cheek is giving him the shivers, and a second and third kiss are what takes over his head as he lets his eyes close and focuses on just. enjoying it a little bit. daichi's lips are chapped like he thought they would have been, and it's not suga's first kiss, but it's the one he thinks he wants to remember forever, just in case something has gone terribly wrong, just in case he is dreaming. he pulls away when he gets a look at daichi's smile, feels his heart do a backflip in his chest as he touches his nose.
jeez. he's got it really bad. oikawa would be laughing at him right now, probably.
(he keeps changing daichi's name in suga's contacts list to stupid things: "prince charming" "suga's dreamboat" "sugachan ask him out already or i will" for example.)
pulling away a little, suga rolls over against his chest, more or less propping himself on top of daichi to get a better look at him. they have to go to class, suga knows it, but he can't help but think maybe, maybe just once, he could skip and lay in bed with daichi for the next twelve hours. professor takeda would absolutely understand, right? "i've been in love with a guy for six years and he just kissed me, so, i'll miss charms this morning. thanks for understanding!" yeah. that sounded pretty stupid in his head.
still. suga cups daichi's cheeks again, keeping his hands there, now feeling a little more confident and less flustered than before as he settles back into his usual self. mister refreshing it is. ] That means dating, not just acting exactly the same. We're close, we're not this close. [ he's just checking ok. ]
[ Letting himself be guided onto his back so that Suga can lay on top of his chest, Daichi just looks up at him with a contemplative look. Suga has class soon, and he has his own classes to get to, but they're just... laying there, looking at each other and kissing, and he kind of doesn't want to change that. He just wants to stay there, holding him and touching him, because they both might've had relationships in the past, but this is different. This is the two of them, after what feels like years of unintentional pining, and they've got all those years to make up for.
So, sure. They can totally stay here and skip their first classes of the morning.
Sliding his hand up from Suga's waist, up along his body until he can mirror him, he slips his fingers through his soft hair, smoothing out the bedhead and finally doing what he's been wanting to do for ages. ]
So, go out with me. [ Later, he's going to lose all his bravado, so right now, in the early morning light and the quiet of the Gryffindor dormitory, he's going to take advantage of it. He's going to say these things while he still can, so that Suga knows that he's serious. ] And then we will be this close.
[ Almost to cement it, Daichi tips his head upwards, pressing his lips to his chin, up to the corner of his mouth, and then up higher to the mark beneath his eye, settling there with his nose tucked close to his temple for a moment. They don't need to go to class, right? Their exams aren't for a while, and it's not like they don't have friends who will tell them what happened. The professors will totally understand, even if they don't tell them exactly why it is they skipped class. ]
[ suga pouts just a little as daichi continues to (somehow) be smooth. ] Hmm...it kind of annoys me that Daichi's the cool one...
[ but it obviously doesn't annoy him that much, because even his tone is playful, too giddy to be anything but happy. how could he not be? daichi's mouth is soft and his hands are calloused and warm and perfect, and he's pretty sure if he died right this very second, he'd die a happy, happy man. screw class, that much is official. he wants to lay here and kiss daichi for the rest of his life, let alone a couple more hours.
suga's left a little winded by the kisses--this is a lot of kissing going on for something he's only fantasized about for the past six years--and he ends up blinking at daichi as they're happening, until a little bit of a smile crosses his face. he tips his head in a little bit and hums-- ] How close do you mean by "this close?"
[ because suga needs to get his cool points back, and also because he's teasing him, playful and sweet. ]
You can't always be the cool one, you know. [ Daichi absolutely does not sulk to himself whenever Suga embarrasses him with certain comments, all right. He doesn't. But he's going to do his best to not get embarrassed now.
Except it doesn't work at all, because Suga is Suga, and he can't help the little groan of exasperation that leaves him. He turns his head and tucks his face against the line of Suga's neck - he can do that now! - and just lays there for a minute, trying to regain his composure and keep from getting too flustered. ]
Koushi... [ He can also do that, now. For some reason, Suga's first name has always seemed off limits, like that would be crossing a line somehow. But here they are, now, and Daichi is never going to stop saying it. It's pretty much impossible. ]
I don't know, close. [ And he punctuates that with a kiss to his jaw, because he's there, and - yes, he means that close, too. Maybe right now, maybe not, but as close as they can be. If they're going to be skipping class, then they have plenty of time to figure it all out. And for that, he's glad. It's only the beginning of everything, after all. ]
[ daichi calling him by his first name is legitimately going to kill suga one of these days. it keeps embarrassing him, makes his ears pinken, because for all of the dumb nicknames that have come from his last name, he's plenty attached to being 'suga'. and he's always called daichi daichi, pretty much since their first year, and so having that same closeness applied to him is just a firm reminder of what happened here. of the fact that daichi's kissed suga, now, that his head's pressed into his neck. suga lifts his slim fingers to run them through daichi's short hair, pressing gently into his scalp as he tips his head back and laughs.
yeah, no. screw class. for once in his life, suga's not going to be responsible.
the kiss to his jaw makes him smile, and suga tips forward to press one to the top of his head. it's kind of hard to not kiss him literally everywhere, pepper him with kisses as sweet as his own namesake, but he just settles with the one for now, hiding his huge, toothy smile where daichi can't see him. ] Well, that kind of close sounds good to me, too. Just to be clear...
[ reaching down, suga picks up daichi's face again, tipping his head towards his so he can look him in the eyes, hazel on dark brown. ] Daichi, I like you. I've liked you since second year.
[ it feels really, really strange to have that off of his shoulders, and suga flushes a little, a smile quirking up the corners of his mouth. ] ...Jeez. Is it odd to feel relieved?
[ There are a lot of things he could say, that he's been thinking about for ages now, but Daichi isn't sure where to begin. Maybe with how much he's been biting back calling him Koushi for months now, maybe even longer, because he's nearly done it during their late nights and their more intimate moments of quiet. It's always felt right, that idea of calling him by his first name, no matter how apt and right Suga is on its own. After all, Suga literally is made of sugar. But he's never wanted to broach that, at the risk that it made things awkward somehow, or had Suga suspicious, in case the feelings weren't mutual.
Looking back on it, now, he's not sure why it wasn't obvious for both of them.
He can't help his smile when he feels the press of a kiss to his hair, and he resists the urge to nudge into his fingertips, but at least that option is taken from him as Suga lifts his face up to look at him. Really, he could probably stare at him all day without getting tired of it, but looking into his eyes almost makes him melt.
Especially with what he says, because, well. ] No, because Michimiya and I broke up because she told me I'd been in love with you for just as long.
[ A dark flush has obviously settled on his face, because while he might be repeating what she said, it's still the big L. And it's pretty true. ] So it's... it's good to be able to say it.
[ daichi has to go on and say something like that--something so bold and open and serious that suga stares at him with his eyes big and wide, his mouth falling open for a second. there are so many things in that statement he could start with (suga was the one who took daichi out for butterbeer after he and michimiya broke up, sneaking him out of the castle with the excuse that his owl was very sick and they needed to see a vet and carrying a covered cage out with his animagus best friend instead, or maybe the fact that michimiya knew or that daichi loved him, daichi loved him--) that suga doesn't even know where to begin. his composure breaks with a flush that immediately bursts across his pale face, and suga drops off of daichi's chest to grab a pillow, covering his face with it and holding his arms on top to hide his embarrassment. ]
Oh my god. [ he moans into it, eventually, starting there. ] Daichi, I've liked you for so long, you can't just say stuff like that out of nowhere. This is for real, right? I'm not asleep?
[ he'll just be under this pillow for a few minutes, dying of mortification and emotional overload all at once. sawamura daichi loves him. this has got to be some insane dream. he's never moving from this spot in case he has to wake up.
he's going to have to have a conversation with michimiya later. one that involves a lot of very un-suga-like whining. ] I thought you only liked girls!
[ If only he had a camera or something right next to his bed, because Daichi wants more than anything to get a picture of Suga's reaction before it's lost to the pillow. He can't really help but laugh, even with his face flushed, because he's thinking of the same thing that Suga is - he remembers shifting into his animagus form and sitting atop a pile of clothes in a covered cage so that they could head down to Hogsmeade. Part of him is certain that the professors that they had talked to knew what they were up to, but he doesn't comment. He just thinks about how they had sast there drinking butterbeer, talking all night, until they had to sneak back into the castle for a very, very long day of classes.
It hadn't been a post-breakup outing for him. It'd been a realization, and he'd spent the entire time just watching Suga, understanding that what Michimiya said was truth. He was in love with Sugawara Koushi and there wasn't anything he could do about it.
Calmly rolling onto his side, until he can peer down at where Suga is hiding himself, he slides his hand up his arm to settle on one of his hands.
And then he gently pinches the back of it. ]
It's hard to explain, but it's the truth. I think a part of me knew a lot sooner than that, but I just didn't realize it, not until I had to sit down and really think about it. [ Daichi smooths his thumb over the back of his hand to make up for pinching it. ] And what I figured out was that this felt right, and if it feels right to you, then we should do it. Especially since we're stupid and liked each other for as long as we have.
Ouch. [ suga says without much actual pain to it, fluttering open his eyes to the red of daichi's pillowcase. he knows why he's doing it--it's stupid and dorky and cute, like daichi always is, and he can't really hide the smile that's pulling at his face underneath the satin. these are the things suga would get a squeeze in his chest from before this. his laugh, his smile, the way he gets embarrassed, his everything, pretty much, because sawamura daichi was the kind of person that suga fell head over heels for. and he knew that he was never going to come out of it, knew when he laid just like this in his own bed in the ravenclaw common room, muttering "i don't have a crush on sawamura" into the fabric until he could maybe convince himself. turned out he never could, because one day, 'sawamura' became daichi, and one day suga literally could not imagine his life without daichi ever existing in it.
when he started dating michimiya, suga wasn't--he wasn't sad. he was, a little bit, but anyone would be when their biggest crush was making heart eyes at someone across the room. but, by then, just six months ago, suga had figured out that daichi probably never would like him back, and he'd be happy just to sit on the periphery. so he listened to him, teased him when he got embarrassed about her, helped him bake her chocolates for valentines day. suga just wanted to be in daichi's life, in the end, and if that meant being the cool, perpetually single uncle to his five perfect quidditch playing kids, well, at least he'd be cooler than asahi.
so this all feels unbelievable; like this thing he's holding in his hands is fake. the pinch is appreciated, and suga exhales, quietly, and spreads his fingers so that daichi's bigger ones can fall into the space between his. he only lifts the pillow for a brief second with his other hand, enough to give him a look. ] You're saying that like this wasn't an accident. And you still didn't answer my question!
[ about liking guys, anyway. at this point daichi may as well take the pillow off of him, he won't argue. ]
[ Going quiet as he slides his fingers between Suga's, Daichi lets his eyes focus on the bright red of his pillow instead of anything else. His mind wanders, and his gaze unfocuses as he considers how he should answer that. It's really hard to, because he knows what it feels like to him, but not how to put it into words. Michimiya didn't ask him any questions about it, just seemed to assume an answer and stuck with it in her mind while they were together. At the very least, she seemed to be understanding when they broke up, especially considering she was the one to break it to him that he was in love with Suga.
For as much as he talked about Michimiya to others, and enjoyed spending time with her, he realized she was right. He spends so much time talking about Suga, thinking about him, wanting to be with him, that it simply makes sense. Whatever future he might have had with her did not hold a candle to the one he could have with Suga, though he had simply assumed that Suga would be there no matter what happened. Whatever choices they made, there was Suga at his side, like he always is.
Tilting his head so that his cheek rests against his shoulder, weight supported on his elbow, Daichi just smiles softly at where Koushi peeks out and reaches with their joined hands to nudge the pillow down further. ]
That's what's hard to explain. I don't look at people and go "I'd date them," no matter if they're a girl or a guy. I got to know Michimiya and when she asked me out, after we'd been friends for a while, that was when I thought "yeah, I'd date her." [ He strokes his thumb along the side of Suga's hand. ] When she made me realize that I was already in love with you, I knew that the answer would be "I'd be the happiest person in the world if I dated Suga."
[ suga's heart does a backflip and a half at that smile, and he can't help but return it as the pillow shifts down. he knows he probably looks ridiculous in comparison--at the moment, daichi looks like heaven personified, from the look on his face to the way the morning light's filtering through the closed curtains around them and highlight his cheek, his nose, the deep brown of his eyes. it's still kind of hard to believe that he's holding his hand at the moment, that they've kissed a few times, and everything about suga (anything that might have been embarrassed or worried or scared) just softens.
he returns the stroke of his thumb with his own hand, and he'd look down at it if he could peel his gaze away from daichi--which, at the moment, he definitely can't. "i'd be the happiest person in the world if i dated suga", he says, and suga feels himself break into a dumb smile, feels warm from the tips of his fingers right down to his toes. daichi loves him, and he loves daichi. whatever happened after this--school, work, real life--they'd work it out.
it was only a shame that they'd waited so long. six whole years they could have spent doing this, but suga can't complain. if anyone could make it work, they could. he's stubborn and young and in love, and nothing about that's going to change anytime soon. ]
Sappy. [ he says, softly, but the smile he gives daichi is brilliant. ] Me too.
[ because he is. he's so, so happy. a meteor could strike the school right now, and he wouldn't care. suga's whole world has narrowed down to him and daichi alone. ]
[ Sometimes, Suga's hair looks like perfect silver. It's usually at night, when they're sitting in the common room or in the astrology tower, when the moon and stars are bright as they can be over the Hogwarts grounds, making it shine like it's made of starlight, too. But right now, looking down at him in the perfect morning, sunlight shining through red and gold curtains and drapes to reach them, it just looks like spun gold. He has to adjust his weight on his arm so that he can bring his free hand up, brushing some of his hair away from his face, tucking it behind his ear the same way he's seen Suga do before. ]
There are people I think are attractive, in an abstract kind of way. Like, if you're looking at a statue or painting. Something that's appreciated, y'know? Someone says that a person is hot or cute, and I think of it like they're a portrait I'm looking at. Even Michimiya, for the most part. [ Slowly, he brushes his knuckles over Suga's cheek, tracing down to his jaw once the pillow is down far enough that he can touch him.
Maybe it's really sappy - like, really sappy - but it's who Daichi is. And he knows that way he's saying is true, otherwise he wouldn't say it so freely. Certain things embarrass him really easily, as Suga knows so well, but sometimes he finds the Gryffindor courage and uses it for this.
Moving, he leans over Suga more, trapping the pillow between their chests momentarily as he leans down over him to brush his lips against Suga's. ]
[ the surprise at the statement colors all over suga's face again, a pale pink flush that follows the trace of daichi's knuckle, up near where suga knows his mole is down his cheek. it takes him a long time to speak, and when he does, it's soft and warm as a summer breeze, his mouth still tingling just a little from the barest, faintest kiss. ]
You're impossible. [ it's so, so unbelievably fond. suga finally relinquishes his hold on the pillow to pick his hands up and press them to daichi's cheeks, holding him there so that he can really look him in the eyes as he talks. his face hurts from smiling at this point, as suga sort of relishes in the fact that all of this is real.
(class has long since started. suga doesn't care.)
his thumbs track over his cheekbones, and even though he rolls his eyes, it's downright playful. ] Do you know how hard it is to have a conversation with you when you're like this? We're trying to have a serious talk about feelings, and you go and say things like that. [ his tone's chiding and teasing, but he's practically doe eyed, the kind of thing coach would yell at players for for doing across the quidditch pitch. there's this deep, powerful sense of love that feels like it's soaking everything he's doing, like all the times suga's said it in his head (daichi, i love you. daichi, i love you so much. daichi, i wish you loved me too) need to be made up for, in each gesture, in each little touch.
quietly, he dips in for another kiss, and then another. ] For the record, that's you. [ beautiful, that is. although beautiful's not really the word. he pauses for a moment, nose wrinkling. ] Handsome, maybe. Strong. [ his thumb strokes over his cheek again. ] Inspiring. You could tell me to fly my broom off a cliff and I'd follow you.
[ If Suga weren't holding his cheeks in his hands, Daichi would absolutely duck his head. As it is, he just drops his eyes lower - oh, that's Koushi's mouth in his line of sight now, but it's something at least - and lets out a sheepish little laugh. His face feels warm, but it's nothing in the face of the fingers against his skin, the thumbs tracing along his cheekbones.
His shoulder twitches a little in a shrug, but he keeps his balance over Suga, careful not to fall over onto him. Though, he thinks that maybe it would be nice, to just press himself over Suga and kiss his face. It's not a feeling he's had for anyone else, but he'd never dream of having his feelings for Suga towards anyone else. Not even the people he cares about most, not even when he and Michimiya were together. ]
Well, they're my feelings, and they're pretty serious. And mostly about you, so. [ He closes his eyes partway, smile a little lopsided. It's revenge for the things Suga says, and what he will undoubtedly wind up saying before long. That's the realization he has that this clever and kindhearted Slytherin is bound to spend the rest of their lives just trying to fluster him, and he's kind of okay with that. So long as he can have moments like this.
With each kiss, he lingers and obviously resists following after him the second time. His eyes flicker open completely again, and he just... keeps smiling dopily at him, his cheeks straining with it, eyes crinkling. ]
I'd never ask you to do that. [ Ducking down, he gives him a third kiss, hand going to cup his cheek and thumb brushing over the beauty mark. ] I think your loyalty would be at odds with how sensible you are, anyways.
no subject
but daichi isn't, which is why suga ends up panicking and punching him in the gut. it's not hard, but it's one of his tough love mechanisms that seems to make an appearance when he's a little freaked out (or when his teammates need a loving push back to reality.) ] Why aren't you?!
[ rip sugawara koushi being cuddled to death by the guy he's liked for six years. six years!!! that is a completely valid reason to freak the hell out over accidentally confessing your feelings to someone! ]
no subject
Unless you really want to get out of this bed for a reason that isn't class.
no subject
I'm not crazy.
no subject
] We gotta figure out what it means.
no subject
daichi is close. he's stupidly handsome like this, even if he's tired and probably has morning breath, and neither of them have slept, and this whole situation is absurdly embarrassing and ridiculous and probably wouldn't have happened if it wasn't like that, and he puffs a little bit of a sigh, staring up at him.
no subject
] Think I'd like that a lot.
no subject
this is really happening--suga's not dreaming it at all. he's pictured this moment a hundred times, but in the end, his friendship with daichi was worth so much more than the chance to kiss him; he never wanted to make things strange between them. he could have made this happen years ago, but he never did. it's almost funny. but, it's hard to focus on that as he reaches up to return the favor, slender fingers finding daichi's face and holding it in place as he pulls back a little to talk to him. ] Seriously? You can't just decide you like someone, you know.
[ but, his overthinking and questioning is fading a little, because the smile on his face ends up breaking a little bigger than he wanted it to, and from where he's staring, it's so, so easy to duck forward and kiss him on the mouth. ]
no subject
He can manage it now, as he turns his own cheek into that pretty hand of his. Their touches have been friendly, casual, for so long now, but there's always been something more to it. This is that something more, finally on the surface, finally allowed to happen. ]
I didn't just decide it. It's always been a thing, I just - you're my best friend, the most important person to me. It's not too much of a jump to do this.
[ And he never shuts up about you, but whatever. Daichi just smiles back at him, tipping forward into the kiss and holding him there gently rather than pulling away. ]
no subject
You always have been.
no subject
Pretty sure we can do it.
no subject
jeez. he's got it really bad. oikawa would be laughing at him right now, probably.
no subject
no subject
no subject
no subject
yeah, no. screw class. for once in his life, suga's not going to be responsible.
the kiss to his jaw makes him smile, and suga tips forward to press one to the top of his head. it's kind of hard to not kiss him literally everywhere, pepper him with kisses as sweet as his own namesake, but he just settles with the one for now, hiding his huge, toothy smile where daichi can't see him.
] ...Jeez. Is it odd to feel relieved?
no subject
] So it's... it's good to be able to say it.
no subject
] I thought you only liked girls!
no subject
Especially since we're stupid and liked each other for as long as we have.
no subject
when he started dating michimiya, suga wasn't--he wasn't sad. he was, a little bit, but anyone would be when their biggest crush was making heart eyes at someone across the room. but, by then, just six months ago, suga had figured out that daichi probably never would like him back, and he'd be happy just to sit on the periphery. so he listened to him, teased him when he got embarrassed about her, helped him bake her chocolates for valentines day. suga just wanted to be in daichi's life, in the end, and if that meant being the cool, perpetually single uncle to his five perfect quidditch playing kids, well, at least he'd be cooler than asahi.
so this all feels unbelievable; like this thing he's holding in his hands is fake. the pinch is appreciated, and suga exhales, quietly, and spreads his fingers so that daichi's bigger ones can fall into the space between his. he only lifts the pillow for a brief second with his other hand, enough to give him a look. ] You're saying that like this wasn't an accident. And you still didn't answer my question!
[ about liking guys, anyway. at this point daichi may as well take the pillow off of him, he won't argue. ]
no subject
] When she made me realize that I was already in love with you, I knew that the answer would be "I'd be the happiest person in the world if I dated Suga."
no subject
he returns the stroke of his thumb with his own hand, and he'd look down at it if he could peel his gaze away from daichi--which, at the moment, he definitely can't.
no subject
But you, I think you're beautiful, Koushi.
no subject
You could tell me to fly my broom off a cliff and I'd follow you.
no subject
His shoulder twitches a little in a shrug, but he keeps his balance over Suga, careful not to fall over onto him. Though, he thinks that maybe it would be nice, to just press himself over Suga and kiss his face.
