[Five years, six months and eighteen days. A long time, and yet to actually believe it was over was difficult. Rise was trying hard not to think too much on it. She was ashamed to admit that she had been dreading this day for a long time, despite how she continued to work towards it--she had simply met too many people she had grown close to for it to be considered a happy occasion for her.

Life was life, it continued, and now it was time for all of them to return home. She should at least try to content herself with the fact that she had met them all--that she had met Matt.

Even if she would never see him again.

Rise closed her eyes as the countdown began, unsure of what to expect. When it reached one she felt a strange, uncomfortable sensation in her stomach that went as soon as it had come. Her eyes shot open and she nearly tumbled to the ground but caught herself before she did. She was now in what looked like a very cozy room. Definitely not the Kishin Chamber, but definitely no place she knew.

Stranger yet was Matt was by her side. She blinked a bit--what was going on?]

[It had been a long walk, but a nice one. The weather was moderate, there was a cool breeze, and as expected of Inaba the scenery was beautiful. The expansive and traditional Amagi Inn soon came into view and it warmed her heart. She wondered if Yukiko would be there too--wow, she'd be younger than her, wouldn't she? But more important right now was to find Souji and Yosuke.

She concentrated and tried to contact Souji, and this time reach out to Yosuke as well]

Hey guys! We're here!

[He let Rise do the contacting. Meanwhile Matt decided to glance around the Inn appreciatively while he tried to think of what he was going to say once Souji and Yosuke arrived.]

He knows what had happened to Souji at least. It had taken some thinking but he was pretty sure he knew, and while he wasn't surprised, he hated the idea of any of them, let alone Souji, possibly suffering because of their world.

Souji was like a younger brother to him, after all. That never changed over the years, and it wasn't going to now.]

[Inside, Souji was left to occupy himself, when Yosuke ended up passing back out after eating. He decided to do some meditation, concentrating on all the information and voices, all in a different language.

It'd made Rise's voice a lot louder than before, making him start, since he wasn't trying to dull the noise. He sent a glance Yosuke's way, shifting so he could lean and gently nudge his shoulder with a hand.] Up and at 'em, partner.

We'll be right out. Yosuke went back to sleep.

Mrrf.

[was all Yosuke managed at first, burying his face in the pillow for a minute before sitting up, still half asleep and hair sticking up in a few places. The yukata he was wearing as kind of a mess, and it was a damn good thing Rise and Matt hadn't just barged in.]

Are they here?

[He rubbed at his eyes, trying to wake up, before making a halfhearted attempt to fix his hair. Oh well. As long as he was fully clothed when they showed up, no biggie.]

[Rise laughed a little at that, and folded her arms behind her]

Souji says they'll be right on out.

[Nods with a small grin.]

They're here.

[It was almost second nature for Souji to start fixing Yosuke's hair, which had him running his fingers through it to put it in a state of less disarray. And once he was done doing that, he was retrieving and giving Yosuke his clothes (folded neatly after they'd been tossed off, probably).]

I'm going to go out and meet them. Get dressed. [He paused, leaned in and gave him a kiss before he headed for the door.] And don't fall back to sleep. If you do, I'll know.

[And then he would bring Rise and Matt in to wake him up, and Rise certainly had plenty of practice waking her friends up. Sending a final smile back to Yosuke, Souji slid out of the room and headed to where he could feel his friends.]

Wha-- Yeah, sure...

[He yawned, smiling sleepily, but it still took Yosuke a few seconds after Souji left to become fully aware of the situation. When he did, he got dressed quickly, made sure his hair wasn't doing anything strange still, and hurried after Souji.]

[She can feel Souji coming closer, and then Yosuke. When she sees him, she grins and walks over slowly to give him a quick, friendly hug]

Sorry about the wait--how are you guys holding up?

[When he sees them come into the lobby he smiles a bit, in a sort of calm polite way. They looked to be holding up just fine, but he wasn't really all the surprised.]

[He looked them both over with a bit of curiosity but didn't say anything until one of them decided to address the issue.]

It's fine. You had a ways to travel. [A soft hand on the top of her head, as always, before he looks up towards Matt. Even without the connection--he's singled it down to the three of them--he can still sense the curiosity, the concern.

Souji looks back to Rise first, though.]

How about you?

[Yosuke caught up to Souji quickly, smiling at Rise and Matt with a wave. He was feeling significantly better than he had earlier, although he had absolutely no plans to mention that to anyone, tyvm.]

Yeah, we totally got the easy route, Rise. Don't worry about us. [He smiled brightly, shoving his hands into his pockets.]

[Yosuke gets a big hug too once he appears]

Good [and it was the truth, she wasn't just alright, she was feeling good] confused, but good.

[A nod to Yosuke and once hugs have been given by Rise he takes a few measured steps towards Souji.]

[His hand goes to his chin thoughtfully and he tilts his head a bit.]

Souji. This is going to be a strange question but I need to ask.

Do you know what you are?

[Smiles at Rise and Yosuke, before looking to Matt and tipping his chin up a bit. He's obviously straightened a bit in the process, too, because he does know what he is. And though it's pretty much insane, he does have some pride in it.

He nods.]

Considering that I can feel and hear all of you clearly, and not just a specific area, like Ontario for Rise or Kantō for Yosuke...

[Yosuke rolls his eyes a bit, because you're a dork Souji. But he's smiling still, because he's happy to see his friends, and even more than that--he's happy that Rise and Matt are happy. After over five years together, he'd worried what would happen to them; he was glad they got to stay together.]

He's a little too proud, if you ask me. [he stage whispers to Matt, elbowing Souji in the ribs.]

[she giggles at that, but takes in what Souji says. Everything--and really, she isn't surprised. Was he perhaps the World now? It was a slightly overwhelming thought--perhaps something else akin to that?]

[Matt laughs a bit at Yosuke but returns a rather zen look to Souji, nodding.]

It's ...a great deal of responsibility but I guess if someone had to do the job, it would have to be you. It seemed like back in Death City you were already well at work.

[A another smaller laugh and then he says with some humor] Welcome to the chaos, United Nations.

[Elbows back at Yosuke, though it's halfhearted and light. The look Souji sends his way isn't much different, but there's that silent promise that he will tease him in front of their friends. Even if it's simply jest.] Quiet, you.

[Back to Matt, and he laughs a little before smiling quietly and bowing his head forward. S-sigh what has he gotten himself into.]

I guess I was preparing myself for said chaos. But I won't let any of you down, Canada.

[Yosuke grinned, but ducked his head, scuffing a shoe on the pavement. Matt was right: if anyone could handle that sort of responsibility, it was Souji, and Yosuke couldn't help but be a little proud of Souji himself.]
