[Five years, six months and eighteen days. A long time, and yet to actually believe it was over was difficult. Rise was trying hard not to think too much on it. She was ashamed to admit that she had been dreading this day for a long time, despite how she continued to work towards it--she had simply met too many people she had grown close to for it to be considered a happy occasion for her.
Life was life, it continued, and now it was time for all of them to return home. She should at least try to content herself with the fact that she had met them all--that she had met Matt.
Even if she would never see him again.
Rise closed her eyes as the countdown began, unsure of what to expect. When it reached one she felt a strange, uncomfortable sensation in her stomach that went as soon as it had come. Her eyes shot open and she nearly tumbled to the ground but caught herself before she did. She was now in what looked like a very cozy room. Definitely not the Kishin Chamber, but definitely no place she knew.
Stranger yet was Matt was by her side. She blinked a bit--what was going on?]
Matty?

Much better. Seriously, if that had gone on any longer I think I might have snapped. I mean, I can still hear it but it's... muffled. Kind of like listening to a group of people from a couple rooms away.
[He shrugged.]

[Souji bumps his shoulder into Yosuke's as he moves, navigating familiar streets. A glance is sent towards the shrine, but he reminds himself that they've got two years before they meet the fox.]

Yosuke shoved his hands in his pockets, looking around the streets. They were getting a few odd looks here and there--people obviously wondering who they were--but it wasn't crowded, as was generally the case with the shopping district. Junes was the place that was hectic--he had no idea where everyone was, if Junes didn't exist.]
This is kind of really weird. Like, I know it's Inaba, but it doesn't feel like it. I guess 'cause it's not our Inaba... [He shrugged, unable to really explain it any better.]

He was grateful for so much practice keeping his cool, for all the masks he'd balanced throughout his life. Otherwise, he would've ended up staring at the Amagi family as they worked through the transaction for a room and everything that came with it.
Only when they were in the room did Souji slowly blink, half-turned to look at the closed door.]

Once in the room, Yosuke immediately flopped down on the futons laid out and sighed deeply. He thought about changing into the yukata the inn provided but... they'd just bought new clothes and it seemed rather superfluous. Or maybe he was just lazy.]
That was so weird.

She was cute, when she was younger. It's only a couple years, but you can really see the difference.
[He lifted a hand up, resting the back of it over his closed eyes for a moment, even as he smiled a little amusedly.]

[Cutting himself off, Yosuke propped up on an elbow and gave Souji A Look.]
Okay, no, that's creepy, stop it. I see what you're doing there.

Joking, joking. Besides...
[He pushed himself up, and leaned in over Yosuke with a calm look on his face, easily entering his space.] You know me. And you know there's only one person for me, past or present.

You're such a sap, dude. Way to be embarrassing.

[Not that Souji would ever be surprised, but five years and he can't not comment on it.]
I still mean it, though. [He went from mostly amused to only faintly, slight grin fading and turning into a light smile instead.]

[He does know! Even if it still makes him a little embarrassed, he's a lot less self-conscious about it. Which is... probably a really good thing. He just smiles back, and reaches up, putting a hand on Souji's cheek.]
I know you do.
[It's soft, kind of hesitant, but it's the truth.]

thirdarrival to Death City, and is even happier that he was there with him.]Good. Though I'll be saying it for a while yet.
[His intention was to distract Yosuke from the topic, but it needs to be said--they've got some years ahead of them where Souji can embarrass him by being a sap.
But instead if saying anything else on it, he lifts his hand to touch Yosuke's, just before leaning in to kiss him again.]

lol o yosugay. /ENJOYS.
If he wanted Souji kisses, then he would have them.]

He smiled a little into the kiss, wrapping his other arm around Souji's shoulders. Even if he had a bunch of voices in his head--and that was still really weird--just being with Souji made everything a lot easier to handle. And, you know, the kisses helped too.]
no subject
He knew the kisses helped, and being there, too, but it wouldn't hurt to add that extra reassurance that came with even the slightest bit of skin-to-skin contact.]

--but not off all the way! Have fun being stuck with your shirt over your head and still on your arms, Yosuke. Souji is going to move down to kiss his collar.]
