[It's their sixth year and the Triwizard tournament is hosted at Hogwarts this time around. And so everyone who's old enough puts their name into the goblet, hoping that the cup will consider them worthy. Even some of the reckless younger children make an attempt- they don't get particularly far though.
It sounds absolutely batty, but after five years living and learning magic, Izuku's learned to roll with it. He's a muggleborn so all the things the wizards grew up with are much newer to him, but he's read about these tournaments. While he doesn't have an intense need to prove himself, he'd still like to be the champion. The honor would reflect well on his house, he thinks.
It's still a surprise when the goblet spits his name out, Izuku Midoriya, Hogwart's champion. He stands and walks up to the other two champions looking completely bewildered.
Once the ceremony is over he makes his way back to his houses's commonroom and sinks into the sofa and attempts to make sense of the day.]
I'm Hogwart's champion? [It still doesn't sound real.]
[ It's one of the other Hufflepuffs that lets Shouto in, the red of his hair and his scarf a stark contrast to the black and gold of the house's colors. But it doesn't take much, just mismatched eyes staring down the second year until he lets the Gryffindor in, after a couple of minutes of hemming nad hawing.
The occasion is one that requires they bend the rules, anyways, considering Izuku is Hogwart's champion.
At least the ceremony's over now, and Izuku is in the safety of Hufflepuff's common room, far, far away from the explosive tantrum that Shouto knows is happening elsewhere. (Another reason why he's here, because he has no tolerance for Bakugou's tantrums.) It doesn't really take much to find Izuku, either, where he's settled into one of the cushy couches.
He makes no point in announcing himself, as per usual, and leans over the back of the sofa. ]
[It takes him a moment to realize Shouto's actually there. It shouldn't be a surprise, Izuku's let him in a few times, they do a lot of their homework together. They're best friends, and anybody in their year know that. The standout from Gryffindor and the quiet Hufflepuff who blended into the background.
He was always fine with that. As long as he was helping people in whatever ways he could, he didn't mind what people said about him.]
... Yeah. I mean... obviously I wanted this a little but... [There are so many people in Hogwarts, any one of them would probably be a better pick than him.
[ Shouto folds his arms on top of the sofa, resting his cheek in the nestle of them, watching him as he realizes that he's there. He's patient and calm, simply... taking Izuku in. They befriended each other a little stiltedly during the train ride to Hogwarts, Shouto rough around the edges from his upbringing and scars, Izuku shy and bullied throughout his childhood.
Now, they're here, and...
He doesn't know how to help Izuku through this particular challenge. It's not a bully he can level a stare at, or an assignment to work their way through together. ]
[The cup is apparently convinced he's worthy, so he owes it to everybody to do his best. But first, he needs a moment to deal with all the anxiety that being the Hogwart's champion.
Or to distract himself.]
N... No, I didn't... Do you want to go get a snack or something?
[Being alone with Shouto tends to settle his nerves most of the time. Maybe it'll work this time too.]
Mm. [ How do they work through this situation? Shouto can only imagine that Izuku will hole himself up with books, news clippings, articles, anything he can find about the past Triwizard Tournaments that have been held. To see what they hold in store for him, even if the trials aren't the same. Because any time he's presented a new situation or information - without fail, that's how Shouto can find him. How Iida, Uraraka, how anyone can find him.
He straightens up, inclining his head. ]
No one will notice if we go into the kitchens, since they're right next to your house. You shouldn't be bothered.
