[ Ever since Shouto was young, he's known how to dance. It was his mother that taught him, initially, letting him stand on her feet as she taught him the one-two-three of it, the rhythm that came with the movements. It was a fun way to pass the time together, simple playtime, but in the end it'd been for a different purpose entirely.
The parties and balls and galas that his father took him to, shoving him off like some particularly grim arm piece. He hates it.
But ever since he was seventeen, he's taught the lessons for a parttime job. It works, even if the day's finally come where he's wanted to walk right out the door. ]
Trust me, you will not be the worst person I've had in one of these lessons. You know how to fight, you can figure out how to dance pretty quickly. [ It is, however, the most difficult partnership he's ever had. It's one thing to work together on the field, but this is... close proximity. ] If I'd known you needed lessons, though, I would have just given them to you outside of class.
[ He doesn't realize how that sounds, just being honest. ]
[Meanwhile Izuku feels like there's no reason he should be stepping into a ballroom ever, work or not. He isn't suited for this kind of thing, he's better off actually doing heroics and paperwork and getting things done.
But society wants their number one hero to show up to this thing, and so he relented.
At Shouto's words though he finds his face heating up and he ducks his face down to try and hide it. It doesn't do very much, not when Shouto's known him for so long and when the tips of his ears tinge red too.
Shouto's always been blunt, he probably doesn't mean anything by it. Knowing him, he honestly meant it.]
Th-Thanks... Then maybe you won't have to deal with me here for too long. Um... should I let you lead?
[ The only perk to this is the fact that, if Izuku goes to these parties and whatnot, Shouto will have someone else to talk to. He and Momo have spent the years since they met in the corner of these parties, and having one dance at each one that's made the media titter every time. (It's because Momo likes to dance, and Shouto likes to make her happy, so he'll let her have a dance and keep awkward sidekicks from hitting on her, and she'll help him avoid his father and the media.)
Of course, the downside is that he's going to be up close and personal with Izuku.
This is the best worst thing to ever happen to him. ]
I don't really see it as 'dealing with you,' especially since I like spending time with you. [ Again, honesty. He cares very much about Izuku, and that much is obvious to anyone that knows them. Whether they know how much he does is another question. ] It just means you wouldn't have to pay for the lessons.

If you learn to follow, you can learn to lead. So we'll start there first.
[The shy and private part of Izuku says just skip every single one of these events and don't embarrass yourself by stepping on all of your partner's toes. The rational, reasonable part says it would be rude not to go. Top heroes are practically required and if he didn't show people would be disappointed.
All Might was better at this sort of PR work than Izuku is, but he'll still deal with it. He wanted to be a hero. That means doing everything a hero should. (His model wasn't Aizawa-sensei.)
He feels his heart jump to his throat as Shouto admits that. So easily too- it probably didn't mean anything, he probably just meant as a friend. That's the obvious conclusion. They are friends, it's not that weird. Nobody confesses like that anyway.
It doesn't stop his heart from pounding against his chest as he takes Shouto's hand. He hopes Shouto can't tell just how much of an effect even that much has on him.]
I like spending time with you too. [Even when it's during a villain attack. He always knows Shouto has his back and the reverse is true. They've been bailing each other out from so much for so long now.]
