[ Most people would generally expect him to go for Shounen Jump, if he wanted to work in manga. He'd thought about it for a while, but then had decided that this was the series he wanted to work on, the author he wanted to help out. Even if he usually doesn't go for harem series, this one is... actually genuinely interesting, and doesn't subscribe to all of the usual tropes that they do.
Nevermind the mind behind it. He doesn't want to think about that too much.
Shouto simply slides another cup of coffee across to Izuku, before he takes the most recent page that requires inking and grabs his brush pen. ]
It's no problem. You need to finish the pages. Though I don't see why he won't let you keep them the way they are now. [ Because he likes the idea of breaking out of the typical harem trope with the heroics that Izuku wants to incorporate. ]
[It's the first time he's said it, but even sleep deprived and overworked he's sure he wants it. Shouto's always been there for him even when everybody else goes home- like they should, of course. He doesn't mean to have them working so late.]
It's marketed as pure romance and humor. My editor's worried I'll lose fans if I change it too much from what they're expecting.
[ Shouto pauses where he's brought his pen up to lick the tip, habit, and blinks at Izuku. But then he pushes it aside, along with the weird flutter in his heart, and lowers his head to start inking. His hand is as steady as always, as he starts on the characters first. ]
Not really, but you're welcome.
[ And then he crinkles his nose with that explanation. ]
I feel like you could get more fans with a change from the norm, but that's just me. Personally, I like the hints you've managed to leave in.
[He lets his eyes rest on Shouto for a few more beats before closing his eyes and taking a sip of the coffee. Shouto is his angel, his lifesaver, the only person who stays after hours for this long.]
Mm... [He'll let it go for now, but he's gonna keep thinking it.]
I'd love to convince Aizawa-sensei of that someday. [But that sounds a little more terrifying than he's willing to do yet. His manga's still new and it needs to develop a strong fanbase.] Maybe after we've been going strong for a few more months.
You could probably put things in the background that are subtle. [ His work continues, and he reaches to grab his .005 pen so that he can add the very faint details to the characters he's finished on the page under his current scrutiny. He has to do the rest of the panels, but those won't take long.
Thinking about Aizawa, though...
Shouto lets out a soft noise at the back of his throat. ]
That way, you can introduce the concept slowly to both him and the readers. Make it easier to incorporate.

Hmm... Like sneaking powers onto the boys when they're in the background of panels? I could do that.
