[ Shouto is a naturally observant person. It's not to the same degree as Izuku, who frequently catalogues things, even goes so far as to write them down, but it's analytical all the same. He's quiet, around other people, when he doesn't have anything to contribute in his oftentimes brutally honest way. It allows for him to assess things.
But there's one person he's always keeping an eye on. After having met when they were younger, when Izuku spoke to him about All Might and becoming a hero, he's always kept an eye on his best friend. After all, he's also his only friend, really. And he wants them to become heroes together, even as Izuku's quirk never manifests.
So he sits there with his chopsticks halfway to his mouth, staring at Izuku as his head bobs every now and then, his yawns get bigger and bigger, the exhaustion sets in on him.
Without hesitating, he reaches over with his chopsticks and pokes him in the cheek with them. ]
[Usually he'd jump and startle- or at the very least move out of the way of the poke.
But All Might's training regimen and Izuku's additions have him incredibly worn out. So the chopsticks poke his cheek and it takes a couple of seconds before he even reacts.]
[ His eyebrows slowly raise in response to the delayed reaction, and he only draws his chopsticks back after he's gotten a proper response. Not exactly what he anticipated, but still, he can't say he's surprised.
He goes to pull a fish cake out of his udon, sticking it in his mouth and staring at him thoughtfully. ]
I don't think your lunch makes a very good pillow, Izuku.
[Izuku takes another bite of salmon and chews thoughtfully. He is tired, but there's not a lot of helping that. He has to get his body ready for the entrance exam somehow.]
Are you offering yourself?
[He's teasing. Mostly. But if Shouto did offer, he's pretty sure he'd take him up on it. There's not a lot of time in his modified schedule for rest, even though he's aware of how much his body needs it.]
[ He blinks once, slowly, at him, before he takes his chopsticks and taps the thicker side against the shoulder closest to Izuku. His expression doesn't change any, eyebrows still raised and set of his mouth even, but he's still rather suspicious about this newfound exhaustion.
More than once, he knows that his friend has stayed up late doing research and notes. Costume designs. Tactical theorizing. But this is a different kind of tiredness, and he can tell.
Shouto knows that something is going on, and he's going to get answers to what it is. ]
[He pauses for a moment, surprised at Shouto's willingness, but he's exhausted and his body could really use the rest. The tiredness he's carrying is the kind that happens when you've suddenly started intense workout sessions.
So he easily rests his head against his shoulder and closes his eyes.]
[ Shouto resumes eating once Izuku is settled, movements easy so as not to wind up shifting too much. He figures that he can let him rest for a little bit before he actually says anything, giving him some peace and quiet in the middle of all the people around them.
Besides, if there's something going on... he doesn't want to call him out on it with their schoolmates around them. It's not any of their business what happens in Izuku's life, and he's fought to make that clear since primary school. ]

He's not sure exactly what he's going to say to Shouto- but he's his best friend. He has to say something.
Just not in public. Not during class.]
