You... [You're so weird sometimes, Todoroki.] Well, nobody would expect that. It's a good thing they weren't in their rooms.

Mm, that's true, you do kind of stand out. I can probably run and get us something and we can eat here. [She knows how easily she blends into a crowd, after all.]

They were in the hallway on my floor, so it was fine. [ At least, Iida was, trying to contain the chatter and gossip. Bakugou was who knows where, but he doesn't really care about Bakugou's shenanigans that much as a rule.

Shouto reaches up and touches his hair where it splits down the middle, his hand blocking the view of his scar. He'll admit that the disguises they had to wear certainly hid him rather well, but, well. He can't really carry one with him wherever he goes. ]

I wouldn't want to make you go alone...

[She looks at him for a moment- There's no way he won't be spotted in an instant.]

It's alright, Todoroki-san. I don't mind, and I won't be long. I saw a fast food place a block away.

[ Despite how much he's wanted to be a hero, ever since he saw All Might's smiling face on the television, Shouto... hasn't really had much of an interest in being well known outside of heroics, ever since his personality did a one-eighty.

So, he relents with a sigh, dropping his hand. ]

All right. Hopefully you won't be spotted by anyone that's put their research into the gossip.

I tend to blend into a crowd. [She shrugs, it's not like that's every really bothered her. She knows she's plain, though... after the sports festival people did start noticing her on trains.

She tugs up the hood of her jacket before walking over to the fast food joint.

Sure enough she isn't recognized. Or at least, nobody started harassing her while she was there. Good enough, she supposes as she walks back.

Once she is back, she hands him one of the cheeseburgers.]

Sorry, I forgot to ask what you liked.

[ Shouto's not entirely sure how true that statement is, but that might just be the fact that they've spent so much time around one another talking. He's biased, and he seeks her out in a crowd on instinct nowadays just to find the familiar face.

He does do it with most classmates, although many are harder to lose track of than others.

But while he waits, he just drops to sit on the park bench rather than the table, drawing out absent shapes on the wood with the fingers on his right hand. It keeps him from looking at his phone.

And then Izuku keeps him from looking at his phone when she comes back, and he takes the burger. ]

It's fine, I don't really have any food I don't like anyways.

[Izuku's sure that it's true, and would probably argue that point if it came to it.

She takes the seat next to him and unwraps her own meal.]

Really? Nothing? I mean, it's good that your not picky... It just seemed like everybody has at least a couple of things they don't like.

[ Well, she's certainly going to find herself standing out a lot more than she used to, between the sports festival, League of Villains, and this quirk marriage.

Shouto lets out a soft mm as he works on unwrapping the cheeseburger. ]

I prefer cold soba over hot. Udon, too. [ He pauses, considers the burger thoughtfully. ] Actually I just like broth-based foods cold more than I like them hot.

[She really didn't get into heroics for the attention, but it looks like she'll just have to deal with it.

She'll take a bite and chew thoughtfully.]

My favorite food is katsudon. You're lucky though, cold soba's really easy to make.

[ Neither of them did, and here they are. Unfortunately he has a showboat for a father and she has All Might as a mentor, nevermind this whole... public marriage thing.

He mirrors her, although he takes a moment to answer, having the decency to not answer her with his mouth full unlike some of their classmates. ]

I wouldn't know, I've never actually cooked anything before. Katsudon's pretty good, though.

[They're going to be in the public eye whether or not they want it- but they certainly don't have to be happy about it.]

Oh... yeah, I guess you wouldn't need to. I did a lot of cooking growing up.

[ It's... fine. Just so long as he's kept from getting irritated and melting someone's microphone or something. ]

We have people working in the house, with a few that cook meals, and my mom used to cook sometimes. So, yeah. [ He takes another bite, but pauses mid-chew and blinks at her.

And then he swallows, mulling. ]

... sure.

[She's probably better to talk to- at the very least she won't melt a microphone.]

Then I'll teach you cold soba when we get back. I think we've got the ingredients lying around anyway.

[She told him her secret- she can't help wanting to spend more time around him. It's somehow freeing to have somebody who knows it.]

[ If his personality hadn't changed so much between four and five, maybe it would be fine. As it is, it really honestly isn't, his social awkwardness and temper are too much.

But with Izuku, outside of stressful situations (and sometimes in them), he's usually fairly calm. Shouto even perks a little bit at the prospect, though it's not really that energetic compared to most normal people's reactions to something like that. ]

Well, if we ever go back. [ A dry joke. ] But I think I'd like that.

[She can't hold back her laugh. That's Shouto, dry as ever.

It'd be hard to tell it was a joke if she wasn't already so used to his company.]

We'll need to eventually. [Though it'd be nice if they could avoid their classmates for just a little while longer.] It can be a little boring, but it's nice to do with somebody you like.

[ Dry and blunt, that's him.

Not very many people tend to be able to realize that he does have a sense of humor, though. At least she does. ]

Eventually. [ Reluctant. ] I liked to sit in with my mom when she cooked, and I'm sure I'll like it with you, too. It didn't really seem that boring to me, but the old man had me on a schedule even back then. He didn't see a point in me learning something like that.

[She frowns at the thought of Endeavor. He was a child- he should have been free to do normal child things and instead...]

Well... You're not living with him anymore. So you can do whatever you'd like with your free time now. Besides, a home cooked meal is always great.

[ Considering she's the only one he talks to about these things, he's sure that more information about what Endeavor decided he wasn't allowed to do will come out before too long.

He finishes off his burger, folding up the wrapper neatly as he chews and thinks. ]

... no. I'm not. I didn't even give All Might and Aizawa-sensei any time to talk to him, like they did with everyone else's parents. I was already packed when they came. [ A little snort manages to escape him. ] So I'm sure I'll find things to do. Starting with cooking.

[She finishes up her own meal and crumples the wrapper up, putting it back inside the bag.]

Seems like a good choice to me. [She barely talked to the man, but there's an intense seething hatred for him after knowing what he's done.]

You'll probably pick it up quickly.

[ Once he's got a compact little diamond of a wrapper, he goes to deposit it into the bag with hers, mulling over that thoughtfully. Well...

Lifting his hands, he sparks a little fire and forms some ice crystals, respectively, before letting both fizzle and melt away. ]

Considering my quirk.

[She folds up the bag before hopping up and throwing it into a trashcan.

She laughs again at the little display of power- it's kind of cute, honestly. She doesn't think the her of four months ago would have ever dared think Todoroki was cute but here she is, definitely thinking it.]

Maybe that'll be part of it.

[ His intention wasn't to make her laugh, but it's... nice. Izuku's laugh is nice to hear. Huh.

Shouto drops his hands down into his lap again, looking up at her from where he's seated and regarding her thoughtfully. The him of four months ago wouldn't have believed they could be friends, so it's not just her. ]

They were in high demand during the training camp, but that's the closest I've come to cooking and I don't think it counts.

[She laces her fingers behind her back for a bit as she looks down at him- musing about how often she has to look up at him.]

It's a little different when you're actually cooking, that's for sure. Back then... I think you were more like the grill than a chef?

[ The sudden switch in their heights doesn't bother him, honestly, so he's calm while he looks up at her.

... even if he does very much remember her stepping over him earlier. ]

Ashido was very, very excited to have me help with that part of the cooking.

[She was far too flustered by the realization she probably had to say something to Shouto to remember what she did this morning.]

She's... surprisingly fond of burning things?
