But Midoriya Izuku, he's brilliant and kind and heroic. He'd be able to spin circles around someone like Endeavor, who saw no use in support tech. His notes - taken for years and years in an attempt to study - on heroes will come in handy, especially when juxtaposed with the information he's got filed away on villains, too. What will work, what won't. What will help.
Even before he gets his recommendation letter to UA, Shouto knows that he'll gladly and proudly showcase that hard work, should his childhood friend present him with tech. After all, he's about the only thing that's kept him from sliding down the slippery slope of resentment that he carries every day for his father. It's there, but held at bay.
So he waits with bated right alongside the Midoriya family, even if he keeps hush hush about it around home. Only his mother and Fuyumi know about Izuku's plans.

It's one thing to watch over the television or see it briefly in action, but when you can watch up close and personal- that's when you really get a good feel for specific quirks.
It's no wonder then, that the gadget that he made was designed specifically with Shouto in mind. Not that he said a word of it to Shouto himself.

It... was something designed for you. It's a vest that can sense your temperature and automatically adjust so you don't have to try to regulate during battle.
I mean, I know you can control yourself really well- but I figured you don't need the distraction when you're in the middle of something else! You're amazing, Shoucchan. I just want to help you however I can.
[ Sometimes, he thinks he knows a lot more about the support aspects of heroics than most new Yuuei students do. But with someone like Midoriya Izuku as your sole childhood friend, it shouldn't come as a surprise, since even before they talked about him going the support route he's always just been filled to the brim with observations and ideas. So he never questioned that Izuku's ideas would support him. It was always just an assumed thing.
But to actually have it be a reality, and be the thing that got him into the program...
It's easier to let the surprise show when he's alone in his room, without Izuku there to see his face. Shouto blinks stupidly at his desk, letting that information settle before he winds up saying the first thing that comes to mind. ]
Can we test it now? [ The awareness that it's nighttime, and his father has a strict curfew enforced for him is there, but he doesn't care. He can feel a warmth fill him up that's not because of his quirk, and an excitement to go with it. Maybe Endeavor doesn't want to use support equipment, but he does. ] I want to be able to include it in my uniform design, for when I submit it.
[ Not that it's a complicated design as it is, but he doesn't want them to add anything else to "jazz it up" or something because then it'll wind up taking space he can devote to Izuku's tech. ]
[Shouto's his closest, maybe only friend. He's the only person who was willing to befriend him, even as his quirklessness was revealed. So it follows then, that when it comes to making support items, his first one was always going to be for Shouto.
At the question, he looks out the window. It's definitely night, and he knows his friend's curfew very well- but he's free to come and go as he pleased.]

[It's hard to say no to him, especially when he wants to see it in action just as much.]
[ Shouto makes a soft noise into the phone, a sort of cue to hold on, and he moves to exit his room and peer down the long hall. Their home is way too big for the number of people living in it, but it does have some advantages. So he just stands there, listening, waiting.
When he figures out where Endeavor is, he turns off the light in his room and closes the door, careful not to rattle it in the track. ]
Come to the back, I'll let you into the garden. It sounds like he's in the training room right now, so he's not going to notice us, so long as I don't blow anything up.
[He does get up, carefully putting the vest into its carrying case as he hears Shouto's shuffling. It's usual to check and double check for Endeavor- especially if they're doing something his father wouldn't approve of.

[He picks up the case, telling his mom that he's going over to Shoucchan's for a little while. She says to be careful and not to stay over too late- and Shouto can hear it because he hasn't thought about hanging up just yet.]
[ Padding barefoot and silent down the hall, Shouto listens to the Midoriyas talking to one another on the other end of the line, not thinking to hang up either, before he focuses on the sounds of activity coming from the training room. He can even smell that something's been scorched, so he quickly turns the corner and heads to the back. ]
He'll be busy all night, probably. We're good to go. [ Especially since he so rarely pays attention to the garden. It was more for his mother than anything else.
Not that she gets much use out of it, now, but he'll take advantage of Endeavor's disinterest in it when he can. ]
[He knows for certain it works just the way he wanted it to, but there's something really special about seeing Shouto actually use it. It was tailored to his quirk, after all.
It doesn't take him long to reach the back of the Todoroki home.]
[ Slipping through the garden, taking advantage of the quiet to jog towards the back gate, Shouto finally realizes that they've been on the phone the entire time when he gets there. ]
Hey. [ So he hangs up, slipping his phone into his pocket and jimmying the lock on the gate with a little ice. ]
[ Their secret rendezvous would probably be harder if they weren't as quiet as they are, if they didn't have tricks and Izuku's smaller build to work with. Shouto holds the gate to let him slip through, unable to get it open much further without breaking something that would sell them out.
But once Izuku is through, he takes the offered case. It's not often that he looks excited, but it's obvious to anyone that knows him that he's perked up as heh kneels down to set the case on the grass. ]
Does it activate with my quirk? Or do I need to do something before putting it on? [ And he's opening the case as he asks. ]
[Izuku's tiny and it's easy for him to slip places more muscular people would certainly have problems with. Still, he looks really proud of himself for getting Shouto to be excited. It's so rare he ever anticipates something.]
