[ Sparring has always been a great means of learning more about other people. While he's a noncombative person unless provoked, or in the midst of battle, Shiro can at least concede that a good, friendly match is a great way to better familiarize yourself with someone while keeping you both in top form. It lets you know how you mesh with others, too, and it's a great way to help even established partners with their drift.

It would probably be easier if you weren't attracted to your sparring partner? Keith is quick, all raw will behind his movements, stubborn to a fault but it's gotten them out of so much trouble that he can't even judge him for it. His movements always keep him on his toes, but when they get to this point? Shiro's own movements are instinctive, because he's so focused on the way lean muscle moves under his shirt, the way sweat gathers.

So.

Rather than do anything expected, any actual combative move, Shiro just evades - and then he grabs Keith around the middle, like he doesn't weigh a damn thing, and takes their combined momentum to slam Keith down into the mat beneath their feet. He goes down with him to pin him in place, moving to take his flesh and bone hand to hold one of Keith's above his head.

[Keith didn't really know what else but to fight. He's been slowly learning more or less when to and when not to, but it's a slow learning process. Sparring helped because he didn't have to think if it was a right or wrong time to do so. All that mattered is the communication between him and his opponent and Shiro was a very good conversationalist. He's all unpredictable and instinctual whereas Shiro was more of an anchor and steady. It kept him grounded and Shiro was someone that could keep up and even cultivate that wild flame.]

Wha-!!

[He feels the breathe knocked out of him and he fruitlessly scrabbles to try and get free from the other.

The closeness of Shiro's body to his and suddenly he's acutely aware-
] I give! I give! [Keith's breathing was coming out in shallow gasps and his free hand is pressed against Shiro's chest like he'd have the power to somehow push the other off him. His face is flushed, but it's not completely because of sparring anymore.] You win this time, Shiro. [It's very rare that Keith concedes defeat so quickly.]

[ Where Keith is raw, unfettered instincts, Shiro has been honed to a knife's edge, sharp and lethal and focused. Years have built him into what he is, and he knows that Keith has the potential to be just as controlled - but he thinks it wouldn't benefit him in the same way. The unpredictability is his strongpoint in a fight. Now, having control of that, and refining the raw talent, he'd benefit from that. A fire can be controlled, even if it can't quite be tamed, and at least Keith is making steps towards understanding when it can spark and when it shouldn't.

Unfortunately, sometimes Shiro gets caught up in that.

His prosthetic hand holds his weight up by Keith's head, as his breaths come in heavy pants. He just looks down at him in their proximity, feeling the heat rolling off the body under his, and he can just - feel, where the switch has been flipped. Keith yields, and Shiro nods, but he's not really registering what's being said.

Instead he stays there, close, eyes dark like a predator that's caught its prey.

[Really, the only person that seems to have any resemblance of controlling Keith has been Shiro. Otherwise, Keith just seems like a wildfire ready to start.

He's about to ask the other to move off him, but the look in Shiro's eyes nearly takes the breath out of him. It keeps him speechless and has him audibly swallow instead.

Keith doesn't know what to expect suddenly. He's usually the unpredictable one, but Shiro really is at the moment. His hand is still pressed against Shiro's chest and the look only leaves him warm in the pit of his stomach.
] S-Shiro? [He didn't mean to sound so breathless, but the other took his breath away.]

[ Fingers curling against the mat below them where they're not secure around Keith's wrist, Shiro tells himself that he ought to rein himself in. It's in their best interest to... not really get into anything, here. And it's interesting, realizing that for once he's the one that's unfettered. Especially when he spends so much time making sure that Keith stays in line.

But here they are.

Taking a deep breath, like he's trying to ground himself, he bows his head closer to him. Their bangs mix together in the process, where they're not sticking to skin with sweat, but he ignores it, focused instead on him. But before he actually closes the space completely he pauses, giving Keith the choice - meet him halfway, or pull away. It doesn't change the heat in his gaze, though.

[He's had feelings for the other for awhile. Embarrassing moments in the shower where he rubs one out with Shiro's name on his lips. He's not even sure it's a secret with drifting, but he refuses to talk about it and he does his best to keep it off his mind. He doesn't want to ruin anything with Shiro.

That's a thought for another time though. Right now Shiro is pinning him to the floor and way too close to him. He doesn't want to ruin anything with Shiro, but is it really ruining something with their current position? He tells himself that he should push the other way. Keith doesn't though. Instead he tilts his head up to press his mouth to Shiro's. Keith decides that he currently doesn't care. His mind is drunk and the other is so close. He can't resist. Not with the way that the other is looking at him.
