now, you're gonna face the storm and fight in it

There are things you can't fight - acts of God. You see a hurricane coming, you get out of the way. But when you're in a Jaeger, suddenly you can finally fight the hurricane. You can win. |

NONSTOP TODODEKU
There are monsters coming out of some rift in the ocean, and humanities last hope is giant battle robots. Quirks might be strong, but they aren't nearly a match for the overwhelming size and power of a kaiju. Even him, somebody quirkless and powerless can amount to something in this hellscape.
As a child, he had always wanted to be a hero, but wishing didn't count for too much. What did count was the hours and hours of studying and training he's been doing in order to eventually, one day become a Jaeger pilot.
He made it- along with all of the other people who wanted it just as much as him. Now the second test begins, trying to find somebody who's drift compatible.
He notices a man with two-tone hair to the side, a bit away from everyone else and approach him.]
Would you like to spar with me?
[After all, that seems like the best way to tell who really 'clicks'.]
HALLELUJAH
And yet, here they are, training to become rangers and looking for partners to pilot giant mecha with.
With his upbringing and rigorous training since he was a kid, though, it's no real shock that the Todorokis are working with the Jaeger program. The one thing that even he's a little unsure of, though, is the idea of drifting with someone else.
After all, his father raised him to stand on his own. How exactly is this going to work?
So of course someone approaches him, and he blinks out of his thoughts, before he nods. ]
Sure, why not.

Izuku picks up two of the bo staves that are sitting on the wall and hands one over to his sparring partner.
He'll spin his staff until Todoroki's ready and then start with a simple jab forward.]

So of course he's here, even if he's not entirely certain how drifting is going to go. If he can even find someone to do a test with. Sparring, at least, he can do.
Which is why it's easy to take the staff, testing its weight, and then - his demeanor changes, as he goes from aloof to intent, deflecting and moving in with a strike of his own. ]

He deflects Todoroki's hit easily, letting Todoroki go on the offensive, each jab is parried. He doesn't strike much, but when he does he goes for unexpected moments and times. It's not as though he cares about winning- that's never what sparring for Jaegers is about- he just wants to know how easily Todoroki can understand him.]
