No more sads tiny baby.
He can only hope he does the same for her. It's why he's planted flowers around the house, turned their yard into a garden and lined the fence with daisies-- with white petals and golden centers and bright yellow petals with deep, black centers alike-- so the first thing she sees when she comes and goes is something bright and warm.
Looking up when he hears the gate open, he reaches and tucks the rag into the back pocket of his jeans, offering her one of his rare but gentle smiles as she takes everything in. That's a much better look for her, rather than the deep sadness that she'd walked out with in the morning. But he understands that place that she finds herself in, even if it still occasionally scares him when she hits rock bottom. Though she'd promised him that she'd never hurt herself again, he still worries, just wants her to be happy.
It's never so easy as a promise, not always. But he tries to help where he can. ] Welcome home.
;u;
but sometimes he surprises her, and that's where she is right now.
she covers her mouth for a second to try and hide her smile--for just a second, it blooms up across her cheeks, enough to crinkle her eyes and newt laughs, just a little, unable to quite keep the joy of the whole moment contained. she drops her heels and takes a couple tentative steps forward towards him, and then, she's running, taking off even with her limp, ascending the three steps onto the porch and basically throwing herself into his arms.
it's beautiful, she thinks to say, but all she can really do is smile, burying it tight in the crook of alby's neck and shoulder and holding onto him tight. ]
oh god I need to sleep now that Lina is out but ONE LAST TAG
Not that Newt weighs much, and not that she ever has. They're practically the same height, which is hilarious to them and their friends, strange to outside observers. (As if biracial couples aren't still given the stinkeye, but Alby just politely gives them his facsimile of a smile that Minho has said looks more like a bear wanting to take someone's head off.)
Wrapping his arms around her middle, he lifts her up off her feet, taking the weight off of her bad leg and what must be aching soles from wearing her heels at work. He tucks his face into her shoulder, rocking her gently while he holders her up, keeps her anchored to his broad chest as he breathes in the soothing scent of her where he tucks his face into her shoulder in return. ]
