But he's been introduced to real music, since he's met the more outdated model on his exploration assignment. Something memorable, that stirs something in what could be called his heart. Even when he's supposed to be doing his job, or being sent in for a checkup after his return, annoyed by his supposed failure, it doesn't really linger when it comes to Yosuke.
Even though it probably should. Souji isn't sure what to do with him, really, but still he finds himself drawn to him.
Especially when he hears the music playing, something old and lost to the world as they know it. (Considering there isn't really a world for them, though.) He approaches where Yosuke is seated, tilting his head the slightest bit as he stands in front of him and listens to the melody that's coming from... he doesn't actually know. Yosuke must have something to play it, something that isn't his processors. ]
What is that?

but then, souji came into his life. souji was fancy and new and so handsome, and yosuke was taken to him pretty much immediately; they became friends (sort of) when souji came to the other world, and yosuke tried not to make a total ass of himself every time he was nearby (and failed). but, now that he'd followed souji up into space because he thought you were dead, dude, he's kind of stuck twiddling his thumbs until they A) go back, B) find souji's assignment, or C) none of the above.
so, he's turned his headphones on. they're really a pair of speakers, rigged up by himself from some junk he found laying around the JUNES in the city he'd been working in, and was listening to one of the three cds he had. though it wasn't so much his taste--at least, he thought that, though he wasn't sure if he could actual ascertain "taste"--it plays anyway, a tinny recording of a song that yosuke doesn't know the name of, but he likes the way it sounds, how catchy it is.
souji startles him, and he looks up from where he's got his hands laced between his knees, listening. ] What? [ it occurs to him a second later what he means. ] Oh...it's a Walkman. I found it. Waaay before your time, huh? [ and way before his too, but. ]
Here, man, take a listen. [ he smiles, easily, and stands up to join him, then takes the headphones off from around his neck, putting them over souji's ears. ]
I have an icon for this.
So he's reluctant to send him off anywhere, though the fact that Yosuke kind of gets into trouble when left by himself... it's encouragement to keep an eye on him. They'll send him back to the surface (maybe) if his directive is completed (maybe, they have no idea where the plant went at this point and it's kind of frustrating to think about, so he tries not to think about it).
Tilting his head a little, he only nods it after the second question. Music, technically, also qualifies as before his time. But that's about to change apparently. He straightens as Yosuke gets to his feet, but then goes still as he brings the headphones up to put over his ears, blinking once, twice, three times as the sound filters in.
Slowly, his hands come up to cover the muffs, and he just... listens. ]
