let me show you a few things

[ If you were to ask for a description of stardom, Alby would probably give "tiring." It's still rewarding, of course. He enjoys acting, doesn't mind photoshoots or interviews so much as long as they don't veer into the stupid territory, and conventions have been interesting to hear about from other members of their little cast family, but it doesn't make it any less tiring. The days have been long, filming the movie and then doing all the promo work.

But he doesn't regret it in the least. Not when he's met he people that he has, though one especially. One that he sits with, now, fussing over as they drive up to the red carpet for the premiere showing. They're dressed to the nines and, honestly? Newt looks good. He looks really good.

There's always talk of costars dating one another after they work together on projects for an extended period of time. Well, turns out it was pretty accurate for this particular cast. Not that it took very long for he and Newt to get together, considering the amount of chemistry they wound up having on set and pouring into their characters. But Newt is something else, and it wasn't as if Alby could've really resisted falling head over heels for him. ]

Thought you were supposed to be good at cleaning yourself up? [ Alby reaches out, loosening the knot of Newt's tie so that he can adjust it properly, slowly fixing it. It's half to tidy him up before they get to the premiere, half an excuse to touch him. ]

[ it's kind of odd to imagine that premiere night is here. the movie had been their project for four months of filming, then months more of press junkets afterwards; though newt had only known alby and thomas and minho and all the rest for a year or so, it felt like longer then that. the so called gladers had formed a tight, familiar bond, and newt had gone from hating hollywood, from a dangerous, dangerous place to falling in love with it like he had when he first started.

so, it had been a good thing for him, all and all. newt gamely went to the conventions, took pictures with the fans (was often complimented by them, if called an old man affectionately, he thinks, on the internet every now and then) and got something out of the movie he hadn't really expected. his romantic interest (subtle, the director had told him; they wouldn't be outright, but it was designed to be read that he was in love with the other leader) turned out to be a lot more than just a character. newt found himself falling for alby as much as their characters did, and when they kissed for the first time out of character, it was thirty times the spark.

here they were, now, in the backseat of a limo together, alone. it'd be their first real event as a couple, so to speak--no one had even speculated that something might have been going on with them, yet, so it would be a doozy--but newt can't really find himself nervous as alby messes with his tie. it makes butterflies surge in his chest and he scoffs, lightly, looking down at the scant space between them (eyes flickering to look at his mouth.) ] My stylist'd tell you the exact opposite.

You clean up nice, though. [ good god does he. ] Ladies're gonna be all over you the whole time.

[ In the end, he's pretty sure what makes this place worthwhile is the little family that he's wound up procuring. His character in the film had already been designated an older brother, or at least that was the intent to it, but the fans had gone wild with the information and the clips that they were fed, and decided that he had a more fatherly feel to him. And then they'd jumped on Newt's, immediately dubbing him the motherly one, and, well.

They're not far off. The subtle romance underlying the two characters enhanced their roles in the plot quite a bit, and it was the exact dynamic that they had going for them. Which carried over to them, where they're not even out to the public yet. Tonight would be the night for it, but they'll all probably be paying mind to Minho and Thomas, who were so far from subtle about wanting into each others' pants from the start.

At least they do subtle. ]

Considerin' all the "old man" clothes you've got. [ The tease is light, as he finishes fixing the tie up, dark fingers a stark contrast to the pale throat they brush against just lightly. He's not blind, he notices the way Newt's brown eyes lower to look at his mouth, and he just quirks an amused smile at him. ] Figure they're going to be disappointed, though. Got a date for the night, so I can't really pay 'em any mind.

[ newt's smiling when alby's in his space--he can't really help it. alby does something that no one else has been able to do for a long time (and thomas and minho, too, to a point, but not nearly as much as alby did). he helps him smile again, makes his creaky, battered old heart beat back to life until he can feel something warm and gooey twisting up in his chest, and that's more than he can ever ask for. with alby he can laugh; with alby he can cry. it's the ability to feel again, to make the whole world right itself proper on its access, and when the two of them are together?

well, it leaves newt smiling more often than not.

he leans in towards alby naturally, his small fingers finding their way to his lapels to give them a good tug, and he aims that grin at him now, squinting up an eye shut with the force of it. ] A date, huh. Who's the lucky shuck?

[ of course he knows the answer already; his tone's all playful. ]

[ When he'd gone into this project, Alby hadn't expected to come out of it with the bonds he did. You always make connections with the people you work with, but this was something different. He got a family out of it, and something more when it came to Newt. The person who kept to himself, despite the fact he acted as a big brother/fatherly figure for a lot of people, wound up with those important bonds.

Wound up with someone that he loves more than anything, sitting close up with him now and letting his hands wander. His fingers dust over his shoulders as he's tugged at, tugged in, and he huffs a soft, amused sound. ]

Some shank, y'know how it is. [ And he leans in the rest of the way to kiss him, kiss that smile. ]

[ newt makes a fake skeptical "mmhmmm" against his mouth, but absolutely delves into kissing him; his fingers drift from his suit collar and up his shoulders, until he can lay his arms across them and lean into him, comfortably. kissing alby is something newt thinks he could probably do all day; the two of them are a perfect match and alby is a proper good kisser.

he was lucky to have found him, really. lucky to know that they were going to be together, that this was going to last longer than the movie. a part of him was afraid that alby would lose interest when he got another part, but...the rest of him knew they had something special here, something important.

he sighs against his mouth, chasing the deeper kiss with a soft one. ] What if we just ask the driver to turn 'round and skip it. [ not actually, but. no one would notice if they showed up late with wrinkled suits, right? ]

[ Drifting his fingers along from his shoulders to his sides, resisting the urge to poke and prod to get a shriek of laughter, Alby leans into the kiss, getting lost in it for a moment. There isn't any way that he couldn't get lost in it. Between how perfect it is, how great of a kisser Newt is, between the swell of his heart, he really can't resist falling into it.

A low hum leaves him, pleased and content as he sets his hands against his hips, carefully brings him a little closer as he leans into him.

The thought of skipping out on this had occurred to him, but he has a feeling that someone would come and murder them if they did that. That thought causes him to chuckle a little against the second kiss, then the third as he pursues after Newt. ]

Be nice if we could. Don't think it'd be the best idea, though.

Yeah, suppose you're right. [ newt sighs, lifting his eyes to the ceiling of the limousine for a moment--alby's right, of course, but it would make things so much easier. fewer people, fewer photogs, fewer people commenting on newt's limp in tabloid magazines... it all sounded a lot better than what was facing them.

but, in all actuality, family was family and the other actors were just that. they'd experience this premiere together, and see all their hard work come to fruition all at once.

but, he purses his lips for a second, ducking his head in a little closer to murmur, just in case the driver can actually hear them. newt fidgets inwards a little bit, readjusting where he's sitting in the seat to press their thighs together, dropping his hand to rest on his knee. ] Think we can make out till we get there, then?

[ it's teasing, but also definitely not teasing, because that sounds amazing. ]

[ Huffing a soft laugh as Newt sighs, Alby rubs his thumbs a little against his hips, regarding him with a quiet sort of interest as he thinks about how far they've come. How far everyone has come. He's thankful for the family that he's found while working on this project, but he's even more thankful for Newt. Still, they'll go. They'll do the usual deal with the photogs and the paps, they'll take their teasing from their costars.

It'll be fine. He'll just make sure everyone knows that he's not going to tolerate any inappropriate commentary, as he so frequently does.

Head angled towards him when he leans back in, he offers him an amused little smile. Alby has nothing wrong with their proximity, or the driver overhearing them. It doesn't matter, in the end. ]

Think that's doable. [ And he leans in again, nice and proper, to kiss him. ]
