[ Ever since he was young, Akaashi has thought about leaving home. Not in the way that his parents want him to - business deals and broadening their family name's reach - but in a way that meant freedom. His parents had tried to curtail the urge, when they realized that he very much just wanted to leave home, go on an adventure, perhaps never come back to his responsibilities, and it had worked for a little while. He accepted his position in the house, accepted that his parents had plans for him that would not be changed, and just... existed, from day to day.

But then Bokuto happened, and his parents were not happy.

A cliched romantic would compare them to Romeo and Juliet. Keiji would remind them that their thoughtless romance had resulted in the deaths of numerous people, them included, and no real happy ending. He doesn't want to die to experience the freedom he's been longing for since he was small, he wants to live. He wants to wake up every day to the warmth of a broad back pressed to his chest, the thrum of a delicate heart in a strong body. He wants to play his violin, pour everything into it, for people who will laugh and dance along, instead of sit stoic in a crowd. He wants to find a reason every hour of every day to just take Bokuto's face in his hands and kiss him.

So it's not all too shocking that, one day, when they're laying together, someone says let's run away. If pressed, he wouldn't be able to answer who said it first. It feels like something he's thought every day since he realized he was in love with Bokuto, and feared what his family might do to them for it. They've butted heads with Akaashi so often, and the times where they'd been caught together had been genuinely terrifying because of the clout that they carried. For a time, he'd almost considered telling Bokuto to stay away for his own safety - but it had been quickly dismissed, because he knows him far better than that.

The only choice, then, is to run away. Because he doesn't want to see someone so vibrant as Koutarou locked away, and he's tired of his own cage.

Akaashi packs what he thinks is important, what he thinks he would need or miss, and he climbs right out of his window. The latticework is a little difficult to get down quietly, but he's managed it enough times now that he hasn't alerted anyone whenever he's gone out the back way like this. (Or when Bokuto has climbed it, himself. This is impressive, given how loud his visitor can be.)

And after that, he heads off the Akaashi estate, off to freedom and to find Bokuto.
