[ Diana doesn't sleep for a long while, after the text initially comes in. She doesn't leave her room, despite Laura's best efforts to coax her out, and she doesn't think about anything else.

It would be so, so easy for her to get up and go. To travel back to Beacon Hills. Even if she had to drive there, she'd be able to get there before the funeral. She could call Stiles, talk to him the entire way there, work him through the panic attacks somehow. Be the anchor he needed, so that he could be his father's.

But instead she wraps her arms around her pillow, immediately picking up the phone every time it vibrates at the edge of her bed. Everything feels numb, save for the tight throat as she reads over the words. ]
