she fell in love in the first place

For the life of me, I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise
And we'd never compromise
For the life of me, I cannot believe
We'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen

I don't wanna say it's a furry party, but...

Anita and Gen didn't often see each other. They went do different schools and had different social groups entirely. Despite that, Gen loved spending time with her cousin. It was typically reserved for when Gen couldn't be with her other friends for one reason or another. Sometimes it was because Jillian had plans that for some horrible reason couldn't involve Gen. It was the worst thing ever, especially considering they were attached at the hip.

But usually, it was because of pack obligations that Gen couldn't get out of. Or rather, when the full moon was approaching, Gen never wanted to chance being around her 'normal' friends when her lycanthropy was likely to be more of an issue. She didn't think her friends would think any differently of her, but still didn't want them to know at all.

In any case, it was the weekend and a day before the full moon and Gen was bunking at the alpha's house until Sunday night. Currently, she was sitting on the floor, leaning against Anita's bad with a bag of apple chips. "How are you enjoying the school year so far?"

But it's a furry party.

The fact that they didn't have the opportunity to see each other often just meant that they were more inclined to make the most of it when they did. Of course, pack obligations applied to both of them. She may have been human, but Anita was there every full moon, same as the rest of them. Much like her father, being human didn't make her any less one of them. It was a nice sense of belonging. Comfortable. Safe.

Anita sat opposite her, propped up against the wall with a pillow behind her and having opted for something less healthy in chocolate-covered pretzels. "It's alright so far. A few of my classes are pretty interesting." Gen understood Anita's actual interest in class material, where Lis did not.

"Which is promising. The student body hasn't changed much, but I've yet to have my locker defaced. We're only three weeks in, though, so that could change. Also, I have a pretty bum lab partner, but he's nice to look at. Mixed bag. I thought you would appreciate that. Lis doesn't seem to think the first past matters." She smirked. "It doesn't, much. It's not like I need the help. At least he writes his own name on his copy of the reports. How's your year looking so far? You and Jillian already taking the school by storm in the absence of your former upperclassmen?"

The shared interest in education was definitely one of Genevieve's favourite things where Anita was concerned. She loved her cousin to bits, but it was always nice to have someone to talk to who could be as enthusiastic about it. Other people she knew didn't mind discussing academics, sure, but it never came up as in depth as it did with her cous.

"I really like the curriculum this year. One of my electives is specifically on metaphysics. It's really deep, but interesting so far. Right now we're looking at really traditional Greek views- Socrates, Plato, and the like. By the end of the term we should be on empiricism and analytical philosophies. I can't remember specifics right now, though."

Compared to Lis, Gen didn't talk a lot, but once she got on a topic she was well-versed in, she had a tendency to get on a roll. She was easier to stop, at least.

"Ugh, but still. He should be doing his share of the work, or not be earning any credit at all. Is your professor aware of that?" The one good thing about attending an elite private school was that most of her classmates were as motivated in earning high marks as she was. The problem with that was it made everything all the more competitive. "Even if he's good looking or nice, it's not fair for you to be responsible for everything."

At the mention of Jillian, she laughed. "You could say that. You know how she is. Queen Bee of everything, but at least she's nice about it. We're running for SGA President and Vice President. Don't know how it's going to turn out yet, though. Our competition is bribing people with baked goods and pizza coupons. We'll be doing movie theatre gift certificates."

"As usual, jealous of your classes." There were a lot of things about private school that didn't appeal to her, but plenty of the electives offered were really promising -- but not enough to beg her parents to put in the money it would take to switch schools. They did well for themselves, but their income wasn't disposable.

"I'm not sure the teacher cares, but she'll probably realize when she gets the lab reports and his are full of nonsense answers." Anita grinned broadly. "It's not like I'm giving him a free pass. Consider it an ongoing lesson in schadenfreude. Learning the hard way to do your own work."

She might have been lying to him about most of the answers she told him to put down. Might have been.

"Gift certificates are good. You might want to throw in some chocolate to get some leverage against the baked goods, though. Not that I don't think you two are capable of winning all on your own, but baked goods and pizza coupons? Those people are vicious."
