[ This is hard. Jade's spent three years trying not to think about it--not an easy task with a Dave-shaped reminder sharing the long journey across the yellow yard. Now, with the genuine article finally within her physical reach again, she can't pretend it didn't happen anymore, as much as she'd like to try.

Sometimes she wakes abruptly in the middle of the night, and for a few seconds, she'd swear she can smell his blood. The scent is bitter, metallic, intense, all-too-palpable... and then the sleep-fog lifts from her mind and it's gone.

She never can get back to sleep after that.

Letting out an explosive exhale, Jade lifts the top of her lunchtop and launches Pesterchum. Her cursor hesitates over Dave's username. ]
