[This was definitely going to take some getting use to. The odd clothing. The enormous palace grounds. The people trying to tend to her every need. Grudgingy trying to tend to her every need. Winry had been expecting that though--in all honesty she felt both would be much happier if she just took care of things on her own but somehow that wasn't acceptable.

One good thing about the palace being so huge was that it was easy to escape in. She had found, admittedly, a very beautiful and lavish garden within and she secluded herself beyond some trees and flowers, near a trinkeling pond. She sat on a bench before it and let out a small sigh]

[She was in deep thought, and when combined with how quietly Ling approached it took her a moment to notice Ling's presence. The wedding had yet to happen. That was in a weeks time and she had to admit she was pretty damn nervous about it all. Once the wedding was done, things would be final.

She lifted her head a bit, and that was when she caught sight of Ling and she jumped a bit, letting out a small squawk of surprise]

[He lets out one of his own and steps back putting his hands up.]

Sorry! I didn't mean to startle you.

[Winry stares at him, for a moment still in surprise before she relaxes and smiles, shaking her head]

It's alright, Ling

[she scoots aside a bit to make room for him on the bench]

Trying to escape too?

[Smiles a bit and sits down on the bench with her.]

They are very persistant, yes?

[A pause.]

...How are you liking Xing so far?

[snort]

Obsessive, more like it.

[she similarly pauses]

Beautiful. I didn't really know what to expect, but I'm still amazed...but it's so different, and I'm still having trouble with the language. I know it's probably because people know of our marriage but everyone seems so stiff and serious. I have to keep thinking and rethinking everything I do or say for fear of accidentally insulting someone.

[SMall laugh]

It is their job, though. There isn't too much we can do about it. Strange to see us having to get used to such a thing, isn't it?

[Lopsides grin]

Ah, well if I see anyone being purposely stiff and serious to you, I will put and end to it.

[...small glance away and then ...a strange shy smile.]

You are the one that I chose to be by my side. If someone wants to take issue with it, they can say so to the Emperor of Xing himself.

Haha, well I guess I can't blame anyone for doing their job [certainly not, especially when she was so persistent about still being able to work on her automail]

[at that she gives him a big warm smile]

I think quite a couple people will buuuuut. [I'll give them a piece of my mind] I'm sure they'll accept it in time.

[Nods.] They will.

[Smiles a bit more.]

Have you spoken to the Elrics lately?

[nods!]

I just got a letter from them yesterday [which meant it was probably a week old at least]

They're living with their Master, Izumi. Then say they'll be coming for the wedding!

[Bright smile] Fantastic.

Ah, I should inform the guards not to worry should Edward try to anything once he arrives. I'm certain he has a few choice things to say to me.

Pfft. [she shakes her head. Though honestly he probably has cause to do that]

[she stands up, turns around a bit and holds her hands out to him]

So. This wedding. How exactly will it go? [everything seems to be happening os quickly]

[Takes her hands gently and stands as well.]

Ah, well, it is a very sacred tradition. [Explains in detail because google fails.]

It ...seems a little complicated but don't worry. We will rehearse, yes?

[blinks]

Yea. Rehearsals sound good [sheesh Rizenbul's were so simple. Just food, dance, and maybe a couple words]

I think it's only fair to warn that I have two left feet so if we have to dance or anything...

[Shakes head.] We should be fine.

If--[Breaks off because now he's suddenly hearing someone blow a horn. A loud one. One you only hear if the palace is under siege.

Ling looks alarmed for a moment but then deadly serious.]

[That. Winry doesn't know what that means. But it can't be something good--and she's certain of that when Ling's expression changes]

...what's going on?

We've been breached. It's either passed the front guards it cleverly sneaked its way in and was discovered.

[Steps closer to Winry and drops the heavier part of his robes.

Quietly] Stay close to me.

[frowns] Breached? "It"?

Not everyone in Xing is content with the way I plan to change the country.

[A pause.] The guards should be able to handle it. We're fairly isolated here. [He hasn't dropped the tense stance and hasn't moved from Winry, however.]

[Ah. That. She had expected it---after all any big changes would make many people uncomfortable and hostile. Still she didn't think that they would...invade]

They mean to... [kill us?]

[Welcome to Xing, Winry]

They won't.

I'm Emperor for a reason, Winry. No harm will come to you so long as there's still breath within me.

[she looks to Ling and nods]

I know I'm safe.

It's just the principle of the matter. I knew things wouldn't be easy---far from it, but part of the reason leaving Amestris wasn't so hard was because I felt finding peace in Xing would be easier.

[she sets her face, ready]

But I'm sure it will. It's only the beginning. I should have known. I know you'll bring peace to Xing.
